Do we think it's pronounced 'Dook', or 'Dowk'? I somehow think the Chinese will pronounce it 'Dowk'!

Incredible, I wait over 10 weeks for the amplifier and then 2 arrive in two days. Still auditioning the Boyuu, but getting around to the Yaqin very soon and will report how it goes.

The Yaqin valve amplifier is now in this system:- rega RP6 Ortofon 2M blue Douk phono amplifier Yaqim MC-84L Monitor Audio Silver 8 vanDamme speaker cable home made interconnects SO how does it sound? How do I describe a sound with words? This is what I imagine. Can you remember the ice cream that came wrapped in greaseproof paper shaped like a block, that fitted in a rectangular cornet? The Yaqim is the ice cream, and comparatively solid state is Mr Softy.

Interesting analogy. Not sure I understand how it sounds though.

I am also indebted to this site for revitalising my interest in Audio gear and for putting solid state behind me, valves is the best upgrade I have made in forty years, thank you AS. ( I know that sounds grammatically wrong, but the upgrade is singular)

Interesting analogy. Not sure I understand how it sounds though. More solid, but just as creamy.

The biggest single improvement was the soundstage which is now incredibly tactile.

I think the speakers just love valves.

More solid, but just as creamy. I thought you meant sweet and thick

Great to hear you've made a step forward with this. Valve amps can be magical in many respects.

Good to hear. So often you only hear early impressions and these can change so quickly. Some nice looking bits in your system too.

Do the padlocks help improve the sound? Sorry, couldn't help myself! The russian 6P14P is the EL84 equivalent and about £30 for 4 so good value. How far from your speakers is your amp as I've speaker cable here that works very well with my valves that you would be welcome to try. Lots of guys are liking it.

Very decent of you to offer but I already have the excellent Van Damme speaker cable.
