Kappa, yes that makes sense. I'm glad that they're still cutting it, Infinity made some very nice speakers back then. The IRS Beta were immensely good, but these ones need some work. I'd take them on!

What's your usual pre James? It's the a Stereo Coffee LDR, but with quite a difference. Chris Daly used it, when I sent it to him for repairs / upgraded board, to develop a whole load of new ideas he had to further improve his design. The LDR came back to me with the case fully loaded with new and extra circuitry. The sound was remarkably different - Fuller, great tone, more propulsive in a bigger sound kind of way and a rightness that wasn't there before. I have tried to compare it with many other active pre amps and I have always gone back to the new ballsy LDR. It's dual mono with a crazy over specified dual PSU. I said to Joe on AOS that I would send it up to her for her to compare to the very moderated Croft that she has as I know and greatly respect their amps but the postage was too much just to get another opinion.

Well kind of, although here is mains electricity involved in amp building, just make sure you wear some rubber gloves Follow this design, it is ridiculously good! theaudiostandard.net/thread/1373/seca-kit-diy?page=1

In essence-yes.
But would you suggest a beginner to cookery to start with a gourmet 6 course meal ?
When I started the advice was to buy a cheap Maplin kit (mine was a flashing christmas tree) and practice soldering on that. Strangely enough it worked first time.
Personally, I still like point to point wiring using tag boards.

Even though i have PCBs for Colins 20W amp (and also the JLH class A amp) I've decided to attempt the Pass labs 50W single ended mosfet amp, with the mosfet being likened to an ice hockey puck. I will start a thread soon, just getting some components at the moment. Todays find was 2 60v @ 15A EI transformers. This is why I'm looking for 10A chokes/reactors.

I promise I won't try and find an earth point with a wire with everything switched on.

Hi James , There will never be another one of these Amps made by me, today I had a mishap the artwork and the CAD got erased by mistake, and I never backed it up gone forever sorry, you have the only one. Now I shall go into the corner and quibber. I have now re drawn it and the cct was in head all the time hidden behind the coffee.
