It's just because that's what was there before - picked up Tannoy Mercurys for £20 at a charity shop and Mrs Chris loves them as the look really appeals to her! For £20 they were a bargain as well. The four sets of speakers I have all have different strengths but all are very good. My ANKs are my favourites though as they are very neutral and just seem to let more of the music out. Perfect for valves, perfect. Is there a connection between Tannoyand Sony? Same factory, different branding maybe? I have just acquired a pair of Mercury's and a pair of Sony NX1's!

The Mercurys are very good speakers. There's a thread about them and photos of mine elsewhere. They respond well to my super duper speaker cable as well as good stands.

You know that's just reminded me - I've a wee Sony amp kicking about and my CD players a Sony. Must hook it all up.

I'm sure they are Chris and it might be that the NX1's prefer the Linton and Van Damme cable, because the NX1's sound preferable to my ears. Not better; preferable.

That's very generous and decent of you sir. I bought the Van Damme on recommendation here however and as I'm currently happy with it and also some lengths of lawnmower cable I'm not going to tamper.

The Linton 2's sound better on the Linton receiver, but the Sony's pushed them hard. Maybe the Sony's will sound special when I hook them up to the Nobsound??!

That's them in situ and hooked up to a NAD 3225 PE amp with very good speaker cable and they sound excellent. Total cost of this system £5.

That's a lot of speaker for a fiver. Judging by the sticker, I'd say the previous owner has probably got 'em run in for you!

They went faster with it on.
Sound better with it off though. Subjectively.
