to change the default font, alignment and colour
I'm just wondering as I find it annoying, what's the reason for doing it?

It annoys me a bit too Tim. I suppose, being charitable, it might be that some people may have less than perfect eyesight. I suspect not though, in most cases!

To be frank, I'd prefer the default print size to be 3.
And if the members feel that alternative font faces are not acceptable why is there a choice ? I choose "verdana" because
A) I like it
B) I can.

I suppose, being charitable, it might be that some people may have less than perfect eyesight. I did wonder that myself, but if that was the case how do they manage to read all the other 'normal' posts and comment on them? Very odd behaviour and if it is done purely to annoy people . . . . well, nuff said.

I have asked the same question and got a response that suggests one of the few of those doing it all the time resent the comment. It would be terrible if rules were created and enforced but if the majority of posters can manage without it does suggest something, dare not say what as I am not qualified to analyse peoples traits of chosen deviation and why they do it.
It gets my involuntary attention unfortunately but does not add to the forums enjoyment.
This is in another font colour. It is done for effect rather than to communicate anything. Are you impressed?

I think that if all anyone can worry about in life is a slight change from the "norm" in print size / type face then life can't be too bad.

That's a fair point, but I do find it interesting that it seems some people genuinely like to annoy the people they interact with - hey ho, none so queer as folk. Work away.

If the mods really feel that size 3 print is annoying the membership then I'll go down to size 2.

I've seen previous posts (a good wile ago) which had annoyingly huge typeface that looked like shouting. These days AFAIC nobody on here uses a font or typeface that's beyond the bounds of normality. I just regards the slight differences in the same way I do different posting styles. It all just adds to the variety for me.
edit: just seen the post above and I must say Verdana 2 is easier on the eye than anything else. Not sure I can be bothered or will remember to use it all the time but I do like it.

I have looked through the profile and settings of the forum and may still have missed the blindingly obvious to others but the web interface does not seem to offer an option to change YOUR default font, colour or size. I guess if you use another tool to access TaS it may do that for you.
I have written web applications for my employer and was happy to use standard fonts (which are applied by stylesheets) for uniformity which creates confidence in what their site provides. Even the internal web stuff (intranet) again is pretty much the same. It is only in the schools where kids can do their own thing and they love to of course. Their little personalities come radiating through. Give away to my work area.
I did not use this posting because one of the font fans uses noddy as his/her avatar (but I have said that). It cites the pleasure self expression can give some people.

I find Tapatalk handy as it strips all the font malarky away leaving the pure message. The forum visuals are a side-matter (although I think ProBoards is a rich interface), it's the content that's important.

I'm amazed at the frustration expressed on this thread, I couldn't give a toss really. However I must say, my wife says I have so many 'Isms' and the older I get the more wond up I become about the smallest thing, mount this isn't one of them. I don't think anyone changes the font to annoy others, or maybe they do, maybe it's a secret plot to bring down the thread

I always avoid trying to guess others' motivation for doing what they do; I find it difficult enough to understand my own motives most of the time.
