Nope , it is a statement of fact . Do you not believe there a plenty of people who can be pejoratively described as "tits" in England And Scotland . Indeed if most of the people on this forum are to be believed I am one Who would I be to ignore a majority verdict on the question ? Mind you, perhaps not being a car owner is affecting your judgement ?

I've never watched the show and I'm certainly no fan of Clarkson (I find his widespread popularity mildly disheartening), and going on the information released so far, it seems suspension/sacking is only option. I have mixed feelings though since - whatever my opinion on the man - the show does make a substantial profit for the BBC, which presumably puts them in a better position to produce the kind of content that I do enjoy (which, no doubt, is far less profitable).

Top Gear is just pure entertainment, and it is VERY popular in MANY countries. 3 plonkers ? I don't think so Daniel. A well matched team who obviously enjoy what they do. Agreed, it's lightweight entertainment, well presented and the 'cinematography' is quite superb. The team work well and each have their adherents. It's a recipe that the Americans have proven is difficult to replicate.

Perhaps they could use guest presenters like they did on "have I got news for you" after Angus Deayton blotted his copybook ?
I'd vote for Sabine Schmitz as one candidate.

Let's wait for some more details behind the fracas. From what I hear has been leaked out, Jeremy had done a whole day of filming without any food. At the end of the day nobody had arranged for Jeremy to have something to eat. I don't know what traditional arrangements they have but I have worked for the BBC in the past and meals on wheels are normally at hand.

I heard that Mrs Schmidt was under consideration for a spot on the program. But the three guys refused to have a woman presenter.

Clarkson is the personification of all that is wrong with i am alright sod the rest of your society , if he was an piece of hifi equipment he would be a £15,ooo LDR . I predict he will be part ways with the bbc. Furthermore , the programme fails on its own terms these days . It is a poor pastiche of the original programmes that essentially treats the viewer with utter contempt , Norman Mailer said fame is a mask that eats in to your face and it perfectly evident with the 3 plonkers who present that programme . long may it remain dead . Never thought I'd ever agree with you Danny Boy but you've nailed it! People start believing in their own fan boy image after awhile, its a shame that he will be back in some shape or form contrite for awhile but ready to revert to type. As for the BBC, well its money that drives all considerations after all. Howza about Boris Johnston taking over for awhile remember the 2012 Olympics?

Clarkson and Sky TV is a marriage made in hell - and it's now one step closer to happening...

Having directed in film and tv for 20 years, none of my producers would have made a mistake like that ... But if they did, sure I would be pissed off but can't imagine trying to knock them out even if I didn't get on with them ... There are plenty of circumstances when shooting on location when 'meals on wheels' / location catering aren't always possible, but other arrangements are always made.

I think this series of TG has not been great. However it looks like the beeb don't like Clarkson and prefer to get rid. The trouble is he just about is TG. If it goes the beeb loses the money it makes from TG and we (the licence payers) lose out.

I can't see TG being a success without Clarkson. I know the formula works, but to me it has gone from being a very dynamic and informative programme, maybe 10 years ago, to one of three Englishmen to portray themselves as bumbling idiots. I don't know how this sells so well, as they are not bumbling idiots at all away from the cameras. I still watch it though, but I do cringe through all the talking and only pay attention to the reviews of cars. I say bring back Tiff N.

I'm ambivalent towards JC. I don't really like the show and I don't often agree with his views.....BUT he's hard to take seriously and I don't think he takes himself too seriously either.
His persona and this incident seem to have come together to provoke a reaction from the Beeb. It's in an odd position because of its PSB remit and it's public funding, but it smacks of overkill to pull programmes already recorded. I don't see how it has any bearing on the incident whether or not episodes are screened. If anything, pulling the show has only served to heighten the furore and draw attention to the matter.
I won't lose any sleep over whether its screened or not, but for those enjoying the show, it's a pity.

Just because lot's of people like something, doesn't mean it's good.
If he has assaulted somebody he should be arrested and if there is sufficient evidence, charged . . . end of. Even if the producer doesn't make a complaint, the CPS and police should take it further - celebs are not above the law. The man is beyond objectionable IMO and I haven't watched TG in decades, nor would I wish too, I have much better things to do with my time.

I think we have to wait for the findings of the investigation, but have no sympathy for JC if did punch someone. It would be in all places of work a serious offence
