Personally, I'm so excited about the... .....that I might just buy a couple for myself. And some more as presents for all my friends and family.

I liked these Chameleon power amps when I heard them and I know John respects them too. They are great for the bass end of a bi or tri-amped set up and if they go for anything like the price that they are now, someone will get a huge bargain.

They look like Pro amps, Chris.

They're domestic versions of pro amps, so semi-pro, I suppose. Bags of power!

Really clean amp Jerry also liked them. They were pretty similar to my old Gamut D200 mk3 in terms of presentation, a bargain for the money considering how transparent and powerful they are I used these with Wharfedale Opus 3 and they managed to really control the bass

Well said. Likewise, I'm eagerly awaiting a rival but just cant see it happening... Gumtree for example is now owned by eBay IIRC, any budding rival is bought out to protect the monopoly. I really hope Amazon or Google fancy having a go. I didn't know about Gumtree being owned by EBay but I can't use it anyway. I was banned for life with no further appeal. Here are the details....... I started by registering and placing a handful of listings which were almost immediately removed. I rang Gumtree and was told it was because of listing breaches. I was advised to consult the emails I had been sent for the specific breaches, except that I hadn't been sent any. Escalation of my call led led to a manager reviewing my listings and agreeing there were no breaches. He told me it had to be a system error and he would reinstate the ads. Half an hour later the ads were removed again and I enterd "groundhog day". After once again agreeing that my listings did not breach their policie, Gumtree staff once again reinstated my ads themselves and once again they were automatically removed. This time I received an email confirming that I was banned for life and staff would not enter into any dialogue over the breaches or the ban. My only right of appeal was via a single email to an adress given. I appealed and gave all the facts only to receive a stock reply saying my listings had repeatedly violated listing rules and my lifetime ban was therefore upheld. It advised that any further emails from me would be ignored. To this day, no verbal or written reference has been made as to what the breaches I allegedly made were and the 2nd and third sets of listings were actually placed by Gumtree staff, not me. Gumtree and Ebay deserve each other IMO. Its become pretty clear eBay aren't going to do anything about this seller so its down to us to change our search behavior. Once you've done your search scroll down to just past the "show only: completed listing/sold listings option" and there is a More Refinements button, click that. Now click Seller, type in "topdeal-uk" and choose the exclude option before clicking apply. No more crappy scented candle or 6 man tent listings

Cheers, James. I rang EBay for a fourth time yesterday and I have written a formal complaint today. That guy has almost 3000 listings in clear breach of their policy on "search and browse manipulation" and yet they choose to do nothing. The first-line support people I get through to have done all they can but someone somewhere up the food chain is choosing not to act.
My only conclusion is that the rules only apply to us small fish and the big sellers can do whatever they like. The complaint letter has to be posted to Dublin (they won't accept emails) so I will have to take it to the Post office to send. It's still worth the effort to me though because I hate to see double standards, especially when they penalise the little people and let the big fish get away with things.

This German seller has some cheap vinyl inclusive of postage. I did get Ray LaMontagne's latest offering a while ago for £12 or so. Looking at what he had in stock just now, I found this:
171643405764
Never heard of her - but she's French, and was only £6.
Just has a couple of each title I looked at.

Mmmm, I used to like face-up decks like that. The Yamaha 'wedge' shape was interesting, too.

I'll go first A very nice pair of World Design WD25A here. Built from a DIY kit they look nicely put together, designed by Peter Comeau of Heybrook & Mission fame [amongst others]. They are based on the classic and hugely underrated IMO Dynaco/Scandyna A25 which use an unusual arrangement known "aperiodic loading" whereby the woofer breathes through a resistive membrane basically making a woofer in a small cabinet act as if it were in a large, sealed cabinet. Not only do they sound good they are remarkably easy to drive, well worth a try if your amplification is of the featherweight category. They remind me of a friend's equipment a couple years ago. He had a pair of HB1 [Heybrook] spkrs. He fed them with an Elite Rock turntable into a Musical Fidelity Dr Thomas amplifier, the sound quality was the best I have ever heard.

Dreadful colour. I insist on white cable. Another set of initials that most of us men type have to live by is WAF - wife approval factor. This relates to the colour, shape, finish of a component that while totally immaterial to men is of the utmost importance to said wife/girlfriend.

WAF - wife approval factor A scheme whereby a chap manipulates the wife into gaining approval of a purchase by showing her an alternative deeply ugly piece of hi-fi, thereby gaining brownie points for showing respect by opting for 'her' choice.
Did I get that right?
Hah! You get to choose everything, then.
