Ah, the days when the transistor count used to be emblazoned with the product name.
Written on a tablet with 500 million transistors.

Ha ha, I think the modern trend is to hide everything. Certainly my current quest is to dispense with the awful rack and hide any components out of sight so all you see is the speakers, and even this improvement can be, ahem, domestically difficult.
So, in my case having moved onto quality streaming using relatively small devises and an intergrated amp that can be hung from screws, my current plan is to get the amp hung at the back of the TV stand together with all the rest of the kit needed to make the system work and that includes my balanced power supply unit. When finished and to the average eye, all seen will be a TV on a stand with a DVDP, Sat box, on the shelves below. Actually, with something I've learned today, there is potential for the Sat box to be removed. Main thing is any 'real action' will be screwed to the back of the stand, out of view but doing the very best sound business.

Tidal through Roon by microRendu. Hi greg, what PSU do you use with the microRendu?

I'm using a Longdog Audio linear model built by Nick Gorham. www.longdogaudio.com/project/longdog-audio-linear-psu/My PSU started life as a 13V version to power my Beresford dac, but having bought a new amp with a good performing integrated dac, I returned it to Nick to convert it to 7V for the microRendu. There are several high quality PSU's on the market, but in my experience and expectation, the Longdog is the best. I believe Nick understands more about PSU's than anyone else currently in the market. I must however declare that I have known Nick personally for many years and consider him a friend. I don't believe that friendship has coloured my belief in his products. If I could afford some of his other stuff, I'd jump at it. Nick also markets through MCRU. www.mains-cables-r-us.co.uk/55-power-suppliesMods, this is going off topic. If you want to split it away that is fine with me.

Mods I'd quite like that if you could as I'd like to ask a few more questions about microRendu vs sotm 200 but i could start a new thread?

I bought this today for my Vintage Man Cave. This was actually the first cassette deck i bought in the late 70's. Bought it second hand at the time.. Anyway this is in mint condition. I already have a new Belt & Pinch roller set for it. Re-Cap it & general service, should be good to go.. Dontcha just luv Black VU's... These machines use Captive Signal Interconnects, they will want swapping out too. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201772515602?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

My very first hifi amp was a Sony 1150. Along with Sony ss7200 speakers. Sadly the speakers didn't sound very good and were soon replaced with the much superior Technics SB-301. Interesting and attractive grille on the Sony, though ....

Love Japanese amps Jerry, but never liked their Speakers. If they did less Direct Drive TT i might have liked their deck more too.

The so called technical advancements over Belt drive like speed accuracy. Mean nothing to me compared to a good Belt drive with high mass platter. I just prefer the sound of belts.. I never ever go by Specifications, just my ears..

Ah, I understand. Thank you. You like colouration. Nothing wrong with that. It's you doing the listening, ain't it!

That's an interesting comment, Greg. Why do you use a valve amplifier?

Ah, the good old Colouration Wars. Like it or not, every component is coloured. You just choose your particular flavour. Mmmmm, I'm enjoying some valvey colourations from my new pre-amp as I type. A very vivid sound, which I have no doubt is in part due to suitably placed high level distortions compared to my now-resting solid state pre. Yum!

Love Japanese amps Jerry, but never liked their Speakers. Over the years the Japanese have produced some wonderful and little known (over here) speakers, especially from Pioneer and Technics. Many of them were never exported, or only brought over as a token flagship.
