I was massively underwhelmed by D'Agostino electronics when I last heard them. Captain Nemo looks, but very ordinary sound.

^ Ah, interesting. I've only ever seen photos.
What did you think of his previous Krell designs?

I liked the early KSA-50 a lot, the FPBs were ok but I could leave the rest. I had a Krell preamp on loan for a while, it was ok but not up to the transparency of the Pass.

Would be a great deal if someone snapped this up for under £500: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LFD-Audio-PA2M-stereo-power-amp-/201677211740...you could put another zero on that price & those amps would struggle to beat this. Just an honest, musical sound with no glare grit or grain, with a lot more power than the smaller LFD amps, which makes for an effortless sound.

Do you think this amp would have enough grunt and bass grip for my Tannoys? Is it an unconventional design? Physically it looks very small for a decent power amp - I'm guessing looks are deceiving ...

It will easily have enough grunt, but as importantly it has tonal sophistication & a natural sound, almost tube-like, one might say (personally I think it's just because LFD succeed in removing the artifacts associated with 'solid state sound'). In essence it's a very simple, conventional design, but there's a lot of craft behind making it sound so good. Inside it'll look pretty much like this:

LFD makes good equipment
Opinions vary on that! I had a LFD Pre that was dead boring. Stole the life from the music. A good audio buddy of mine recently had a LFD power amp on dem - came to the same conclusion as I did.
Worth a try - but get LFD at a good used price or on dem to make sure it suits you.

Gosh, the big 4-way ones, 15" woofer too. They must be pretty rare in the UK. Surely a day spent driving there and back would be a small price to pay, Jerry?

I saw those the other day, and am now "watching" them.
I have no idea of their value, but will see how the bidding goes.

Fantastic, but I don't think I've quite got the spare change, Andr'e!
