Well, never did like the look of the arm.
In a bit of a sorry state, depite appearance in the photo. Was only £53 though. Stripped and cleaned it today. Reassemble the front panel and at least the power switch now has a positive snappy on/off action. Will rebuild the power supply and see if it works then.
Nextel top plate is marked and stained so will have to be stripped.

The word 'arm' seems somehow inadequate for the appendage sported by that deck!

Are you going to try to find an original arm bridge, or go with a different arm? Do the deck electronics work ok?

Found an arm last night from a 795 in the US, but it's not complete. Did plan on using a different type of arm. All that showed when I tried it was a led. Going to order the parts to rebuild the power supply. Top plate is on four springs. Thought about mounting it to a solid plinth. Motor is made by Papst. Here's 291 on sale in the US for $5000. Not sure how it differs. Looks snazzy though:  The guts of a complete one:  |

I think most folks wouldn't have a clue who Aurex were. I have fond memories of that lovely little system with the 'deceptively small' power amp.

Aurex (Toshiba) made some nice kit. I can't bring myself to think of them as 'vintage', though.

LOL they gave lots of those Marantz KI players 5 stars: So many other laughably bad kit has had 5 stars from them too. I often wondered if it was down to crookedness, deafness or both  |
