Alonso apparently woke up thinking he was in 1995.

How did Sauber manage to get themselves into this mess?

Hopefully the Honda engine is not being run at full power yet. What's the betting Alonsa won't turn up until the car is running properly.
Lewis did well, I wasn't sure he would be on form and thought Nico had the bit between his teeth.

That was a supreme pole from Hamilton. I love the Ferraris and Williams battling it out. Kudos to Sainz for qualifying eighth. I do hope Honda sort out their engine, don't like seeing McLaren struggling so much.

Alonso has a habit of jumping ship, only to find that the team he left then started to do better on the track. The team he then joined started to perform worse. Maybe Alonso has loads of bad karma. A lot of people think that he is the best F1 driver around. The evidence to that is suspect as far as I can see.

It's down to their state of mind, too. I was beginning to think of Vettel as a moaning has-been, but the opportunity at Ferrari has him well fired up. Alonso needs to stop listening to the hero-worship and find his mojo again, the kind of focus that Hamilton has got in spades. Unfortunately, the car isn't going to help him much but hasn't he always been at his best with inferior machinery?

That was a very well controlled race from the front by Hamilton. He did nothing more than what was needed to win. The Ferraris are looking strong, great shame that Raikkonen didn't bag some well deserved points. Well done Sauber, too, for a good points haul.
Does anyone understand why Ferrari didn't get punished for the unsafe release?

Raikkonen will get an automatic 10 second penalty at the next race.

I know it was the first race of the season, but that was dull - I fell asleep halfway through

I know it was the first race of the season, but that was dull - I fell asleep halfway through I have to agree. I really hope the season evolves into something more than suggested by the first race. Setting aside the fact that I can't stand Hamilton, I am fed up of entire seasons when all a driver has to do to win the title is beat his team-mate. I guess I should be grateful that there is no automatic no1 driver at Mercedes. I dont particualrly like Vettel much either, but I genuinely hope he provides some competition to Mercedes.

Did you offer the same level of complaint when Vettel became world champion four times in a row prior to Hamilton winning it last year?

Yes, apart from the season he nicked from Alonso and Webber. That was exciting. As I said, I don't particularly like Vettel either. I also think his 4 titles flatter him immensely. When we get a season where one car is clearly way ahead of the rest, it ruins it for me. Worst of all were the dominant Schumacher years because his team mate wasn't allowed to beat him.

The whole circus that is F1 need's a shake up.....
Hows about the pool of drivers names goes into a hat and drawn on race day to decide which car they must drive.
Now that would be Fun and Fair.

I don't care who wins, I have no real allegiance to anyone - I just want to see some really good racing beyond the first two cars. I love watching Hamilton and Rosberg mix it up, but we need a few more contenders in the ring - hopefully Vettel and some of the new talent can give them a run?
