Teenagers who use "like" and other unnecessary words all the time. Do they realise they sound really really stupid? "Well it was like I was like there" Uh...well were you there or were you somewhere that was like it? "She said to me I really like Kyron, and I was like, well like you know......" Crass and irritating in the extreme.

Yes, I in fact won a pair on RG modded by the guy who made the aluminium rings. Having had to rebuild both my pairs due to the cable parting company on one cup or the other, I can't see that due to the construction that original plastic or aluminium would make any difference to the rigidity. As I had to take them all apart I put a cable in each earpiece. As I said above my daily cans are Goldring DR150s. You keeping well? Is your Lightspeed still working?

UPDATE: I posted about this on AOS and got some suggestions for a fix. I am happy to say that having changed the values of the op-amp decoupling caps it now works as I assume it should. It may need some fine tuning once I get used to it. It was also suggested that it might sound better if the output transistors were removed and that section shorted so that it is driven only by the op-amp. I am currently using a simple pre like that so I will prob leave this as is. Thanks for all the interest in this.

I was always been sceptical about "running in" and "burning in" and that over time you just got used to what you were hearing, but in relation to drive units it seems they benefit from being given some welly.

Jess Lewis doing Laary Carlton's Room 335. She was a teenager here. Have seen her busking regularly in Chichester playing all styles of jazz. A very talented young lady.

Were any of you here part of the Rock Grotto frenzy a few years ago regarding these phones? It was said that these were made by the same factory that made/make AKG. I have 2 pairs that I modded along with other members on RG. I dug them out the other day. Not bad for the £15 or thereabouts I paid at the time. One of my favourite phones are Goldring DR150s (modded of course ) I assume that someone else made them for Goldring, but may be wrong. I also have some Sennheiser 595s and Grado SR60s....oh and some others.....prob in the loft. Has anyone made a C-Moy h/phone amp? I made a couple some years ago for not much money. There was much made at the time that the Grado H/P amp was merely an op-amp based C-Moy in a fancy box that cost a fortune.

I suffered greatly years ago from "listener expectation" and years later came to the conclusion that I was in fact listening too hard. You know new interconnects, or speaker cable that have had rave reviews......Are You Ready....(alertness Klaxon going off in head AWROOGHHH.....AWROOGGHH)........ I went through a whole plethora of cheap and expensive cables. I think it is Synergy that is the key. You never know Bell-Wire might be the new black

You've got some lovely stuff there Jerry. My long deceased brother in law (37 at death) was an electron microscope engineer for PYE Unicam, part of Philips. He always talked about getting some Black Tulip stuff with staff discount and some Motional Feedback speakers. It never happened as cancer sadly got in the way.

Hope this works! This is just one channel out. The bottom of the pic has no more components shown, just the continuation of the signal connections.

The circuit diagram is virtually unreadable when uploaded with Pissbucket, so I will PM (hopefully) a PDF version which is readable if enlarged. Martin, it doesn't look like I can add an attachment to a PM?

2/5 for me. With regard to "Fluxed's" post. Having attended a couple of recent shows (having had a gut full of the "Heathrow" shows in the 90s and been thoroughly disillusioned) I thought I would give them a try as they were fairly local. Forget about the attendees lack of dress sense or bodily hygiene, sadly the "Dems" had not moved on in the 20 or so years since I last attended one. Either average or poor sound (IMO of course) and price tags to make your pie curl. I know that hotel rooms are less than ideal, but these were Biiiig rooms (some) and it all sounded very average.
