Senn 600/650s are like Spendor speakers or Quad statics-once you get them they stay in your life till they or you die. Vehicles for enjoying music. Head fi is a good source of info regards cans.

Proper looking bit of kit...be great to read some listener impressions. My TQ Claymore has never been unplugged since i got it-best amp ive ever had. If it is in the same sonic ball park then it could comfortably reside at the heart of someones main system for life!!

I bought a new RP1 last summer to dip my toe in the vinyl water. The stylus on the carbon cart went walkies so I installed the upgrade kit. Im happy with it...the sonics are excellent for the outlay-noticeable improvement with the upgraded cart.
As mentioned easy upgrade path but the plug and play approach sold it for me. I am happy with it build quality wise and ease of use. Any Rega kit ive heard in my set up Brio amp/Dac have really impressed. I would happily spend my own money on Rega kit and recommend it to friends and family.
Havent heard the project decks but wasnt too impressed when i had a shuftie at them in Richer sounds.
I reckon the RP1 will be in my set up for a couple of decades.

I like to try things for myself but Im fortunate to have a few like minded souls not too far away. We get together when we can and try have some craic/drink/food and compare a variety of different things attributed to this hobby of ours.
We have played with interconnects/DACs/co-ax/optical/power leads/equipment isolation/t amps/power regenerators/balanced mains...amongst others-Ive had a lot of fun and made some good pals in the process( not to mention discovering some great music and widening my music habits).
We dont always agree on what sounds best as we all have different preferences sonically but do tend to hear the differences in what is plumbed in and come to broadly the same consensus as to the change it made to the sound.
We are talking about a get together to try the different fuses we have-will post up findings for those interested.

Plumbed the frugels into my av system last night watched Prometheus and predator. They do big dynamic swings really well to the point of not needing a sub. My good lady watched George Micheal in Paris- she loved what they did(through the tears and snotters)..

Thanks John, The two links are really informative. Think If I went down this route I might re-rip all my CDs which I have retained in the attic and start from scratch. Probably be my next big change...

I swapped the 57s out last night plumbing the Frugels in. The 57s shortfalls are well known BUT for the reproduction of human voices I have yet to hear anything better. Some well recorded vocals just stop you in your tracks-Ella/John Martyn.
My good lady sat with the 57s for an hour listening to George Micheal sobbing her eyes out-not my cup of tea but losing him and PRINCE this year has been awful for her.

John, Very interesting. Had a look on the e bay listing, the prices are quite reasonable. Im lap top/usb/dac.(i use i tunes ripped lossless and stream spotify premium)
Just wondered how you control the server-is it a phone or tablet with blu tooth?
Is all the music ripped onto the server and held in the internal drive OR do you have an external drive full of pre ripped music?
I know I get improve on what I have but am daunted due to my computer phobia...

Im guilty of a bit of thread crapping-posted on a previous thread I had started to hopefully get it moved to the speaker section. The Frugels as James says can look stunning in a minimal impact sense.
Mods my apologies...

I knew I had posted pictures of my Frugels with help of the mods. They currently live in my sons set up with Temple mono blocks and a TVC promethoius pre. Im conscious I had thread crapped on the Frugel thread in the speaker section with my 57s ramblings.
Mods-please move to the speaker section....gives a fine example of what the Frugels can achieve aesthetically!!!!

Has anyone tried a ONE THING AUDIO external widget for the 57s? Just wondering what they do sonically and if I was to go down the stacked route they would help give my amp an easier time.

The real danger with a thread like this is that you start researching. Stacked 57S are probably my ultimate goal.....another pair of 57S and frames to put them in may be quite a bit more expensive than a super tweeter but the itch just wont go-the seed has been planted.

Thanks for that...I took stewardship of Colins 57s-love them to bits. Colin demoed his latest Eddingdales to me and my missus when we were down picking them up-bought a turntable off the back of what I heard. He fairly knows his potatoes and builds some marvelous speakers-have heard Garys a few times, really something special with 300bs.

Out of interest how do you go about integrating a super tweeter? Are we talking about digital cross overs/wiring in parallel/splitting the amp output?

I tried integrating a sub but it was pure pish TBH (same result with 57s/63s) They do what they do well- careful placement through experimentation with your room is key IMHO.
I fall into the cans end of the spectrum sonically-if you can produce something approaching headphone sound in your listening room with all the placement and reflection issues then your lucky.
Fine speakers that like a bit of power up them.....

Might be an idea to PM Gazjam. As far as I am aware he still builds custom KORUS servers. Factor in the the cost of a tablet or phone for controller and bobs yer aunty.....

James just enjoy another way of listening to music. I bought a rega rp1 during the summer and have really enjoyed buying and listening to vinyl. Its a budget deck(recently updated with the performance pack when the cleaning fairy sent the stylus to vinyl heaven).
I just buy albums that are really special to me(John Martyn mostly!!) listen on cans and love it.
Brian built up a Lenco that is really good for minimal outlay but I didnt have the patience or ability he has. Top notch vinyl is majik BUT digital done well bang for buck is hard to beat.
For the rice krispie effect lidl micro fiber cloths at just over a quid have been a revelation for me in my bum basic set up....just enjoy!!!
