spent £20 on a POWERADD 20000 MHA power bank from amazon....superb sonic upgrade over the standard switching supply.
improved detail retrieval and sounstaging...have listened on the cans and main rig-well impressed.

Thanks John...I was wondering if the voltage convertor would add any sonic nasties.
I still have all the wiring in place for my solar powered car battery set up in the cellar-used to power dacs and t amps to good effect.
need a new car battery...the old ones are not holding charge for long now.
may well give it a go....Steves findings with linear power got me thinking.

im thinking of powering CCA with a car battery.
a 12v dc to 5v dc step down module with mini usb output is only a couple of quid.
whats the thoughts on this bringing benefits?
Im with Steve on the sibilance with the standard PSU.

ive had the spotfires for quite a while in my av set up...they are pretty neutral-with my main rig and a google chromecast audio they are a surprise.
soundstage is exceptional, no sonic nasties-a fine coctail of plugs/cable/solder....lots of hours on mine

plumbed in a good quality glass optical last night....raised the bar again
likewise added the dorado to the seg another incremental improvement.
Just cant get my head round how good it sounds,do wonder if it will improve even more once its had time to burn in.

Changed the audio setting last night and had a good listen....really surprised at its audio quality with spotify. its better than my laptop/usb/dac-noticeably better sound stage, improved detail retrieval and a pleasantly neutral sonic signature. my file based system outperforms it with dynamics but not by much. may well invest in another for my other system many thanks Steve... Cool! It's not bad for £30 plug and play is it! Have you tried a decent power supply yet? Not yet, will wait until Colin Wonfor has built some 5v and 12v PSUs then get one for my Innous zen mini mks and one for the CA. Best £30 ive spent in a while. ordered an opto coupler yesterday to let me try some half decent opticals

purchased the chromecast audio...had a hell of a time getting it to work with my amazon fire tablet-you tube came to the rescue!
when my son finally got it working i initially tried it with the supplied cable into my amp with spotify premium...it was ok but not great.
next step was plumbing in my seg and utilising the optical....it outperforms my cheap acer laptop.
as Steve said its a proper hi fi bargain....and yes i do mean hi fi
will buy a half decent optical and try to figure out how to change the sound settings as per Steve's recommendation

Ive been looking at one of these for spotify duties, my amp has a 3.5mm input for mp3.
i could add a optical dac(seg with dorado and firmware) if it improves things.
how does it fare against a cheapo lap top sonically?

You can't beat a good quality cable from a well-known company, e.g. Belkin Tried a few Belkins-you can get significantly better results if your willing to shell out a few quid
