Well, thanks for that, Jules. Did think it was too good to be true. He did say he had used VPP when he sold the van he had. The Cad!

Anyone heard of it and how to avoid it?
Saw a car recently at quite a low price for what it is. I asked the seller why it was priced so and he said he wanted a quick sale for unforseen circumstances. He had a few others. Told him I had a change of mind and he wished me well.
As he had been with eBay since 2009 and had good feedback and after some more thought, I decided to go ahead to buy it. I suggested bank transfer on collection and asked for a postcode to get a quote. He replied that he was working offshore as a financial auditor and would be away for a month or more but that viewing & delivery could still be possible. He suggested using VPP, which I'm not totally convinced about. Just wondered if anyone had used it.

I know, I know I keep saying it and promising myself, but I really, really, really, really, (really), need to get the Amstrad fixed, and up and operating again. Feel I owe it to Sir Alan.

High Tech firms are only giving staff they're taking on 12 month contracts. At the end of they're 12 months, they won't be required. Needless to say the criminal element are putting it to use. And then you have the Chinese using it along with quantum entanglement for God Knows what end.

Years ago Ken Ishiwata gave the various processes a cd player employed a percentage figure, with regards sound quality. I think I'm right in saying that the figure he gave for the Dac was 26%, which rather surprised me, as I thought it would be much higher.
Obviously implementation is a key issue. One dac employing ES9038 Pro devices with 40 power supplies is going to sound somewhat more capable than one with the same chip with only 10 power supplies by comparison. Obviously cost is then a factor.
Must admit, I'm curious as to how Meridian's and Roksan's first DACs would compare to something more modern.

Really?... How you're swinging these days? Have to say, in 50 years or so of fiddling with audio, what I've looked for soundwise, has never altered. And that's... an ethereal-type sound, for want of a better word, and 3D imagery. Bags of grunty, texturous, trouser-flapping bass and life-threatening dynamics has never been on my list of priorities.

I'm surprised that you all can't see the bigger picture. This is just the first iteration. Compare it to the Sinclair ZX Spectrum - and then compare that to today's quantum efforts. And then consider it's impact on daily life. On the news right now concerns at the rapid development of AI highlighted. A couple of crude, and not so crude examples of what's possible, now:
