OK, so we are still a month away from year's end but Xmas is a great time to treat yourself and set the direction form the coming year. With that in mind, what are you planning to move on, what are you lusting after and what are your stalwarts? Is anyone planning a change of direction? Valves to solid state or vice versa? Anyone going solely to streaming? Maybe you're planning to get back into vinyl. Whatever your vision for 2016 and beyond, this is the time and the place to spill the beans! Gratuitous hifi porn shots of the objects of your desire are very welcome

I like to get my TT back up and running but would mean some major big changes (amplifier dac etc) and very happy with my sound right now so just not sure as scared I lose what I have. I have been tempted to upgrade my Open baffle and put a ATM driver and go fully active but goes back to be happy with my sound. So I guess it might be minor system tweaks. Time will tell

I expect mine will look very similar to the 2015 incarnation, except for the number of recordings nearby to it.

I'm currently in low-power mode with a Sugden A21a and an Audion Super Sterling, but I'm sure a big power amp will find its way here in 2016. Faves so far have been a Bryston 4B ST a Krell KSA50, an Aragon 4004 and a Bedini 100/100 upgrade to 802 spec. If one of these pops up again, I will probably revisit, but I'm kinda hoping somethings completely left-field pops up. If it has big VU meters, all the better And then I might try some Apogees. I've only had the Centaurs but I did like them. Something more "kosher" this time? That's the plan, but if I find something else really enjoyable, it could a,l go out of the window.

Pretty much the same as now. I'm not planning any changes except, as Chris says, to buy more music.
Reminds me, I shall need yet more IKEA Benno tower racks soon.

No changes planned for me, either. Box swapper no more? Maybe. I'm mainly streaming these days, so might play around with some more DACs. But my speakers are keepers. And the EL84 valve amp I now have is the best synergy with them I have yet heard, and not by a small margin. It may well be a long term keeper. I do need to get my vinyl front end sorted a bit as the gain structure isn't right at the moment and I'm getting a bit of hiss when the volume needs upping a bit. Apart from that .... dunno. Music, that's it! A whole huge world of recordings has opened up for me with the advent of live streaming.

The old Spendors in the sitting room will be giving way to TDL Studio 1M's (how I hope they're walnut and not rosewood [rosenut] finish) mainly for looks as the BC2's are fugly as hell now. There's another set of Crown amps (IC-150/bridged D-60's) coming, so if the preamp is in better nick than my existing one, I'll swap them over. Maybe one of the two sets of D-60's could be swapped for a D-150A, although really, both D-60 sets should be swapped out for a DC300A, which is still a cracking good amp by any modern standards, especially for speakers like mine which all need an iron grip and some air and image-space (the Krell offers grip aplenty, but with a little grain until it's been on a long time, by which time it's either sweetened up, or you've got used to it!). I already have what is basically an NVA A70 which is better than all of them (the D-60's come closest - eek!) and the thing with the Crowns of this era is similar to NVA - the 'tone' and basic sonic signature is the same from bottom to top of the model range, but the soundfield 'expands' in all directions as you go up the range. The Crowns of this era suffered at the time with thin speaker cables and crap interconnects (the preamp had dated IC's and four tant caps that need to be replaced with now cheap superior alternatives and the chips are a doddle as they're plug-in), but come to life in a good way with modern cabling and a cheap preamp tweak.

The system stays the same but I will be investing in the four box Paradise phono stage for LP vinyl duties... this is discussed in length on the Audioflat forum, hope thats okay for me to mention?

Oh Ron. What you really need is a three box NVA Phono stage, not that over-fussy kit thing that only works because some manic hobbyist is OCD enough to match hundreds of transistors to within a millimetre of their lives
[EDIT] - With respect to you all - Ron and I are old friends (I hope still, after the above) and if you look on the AudioFlat thread he's posted in, I hold my hand up to being one of the 'pathologically against Naim' people he refers to. I apologise for appearing to be shilling. The NJC is another good op-amp based phono stage using extremely good parts and at a not unreasonable price.

Ron and I are old pals from an earlier audio life  I've emailed him, recommending an NJC one to consider as well, as it's beautifully made and with top quality components too Both my suggestions use op-amps though and that may be enough to put some people off...

That's as maybe Dave, but you know what it looks like to anyone who hasn't received that email from you.

Time a spot of David Covernote on this thread Back to the OP, next year will have one big change in my personal system back to a respectable listening room size again (after construction!) Serious changes to the system will not happen until 2017 when a certain 40th anniversary will yield something Uber bonkers, until then I will keep refining the digital to keep me amused
