People take almost everything far too seriously, especially in this hot weather. I don't Dave xxx

Hot weather seems to make me happier rather than more angry. I hope I'm more of a happy soul than a grumpy one anyway. Perhaps hifi attracts more angry types overall. I'm thinking that they may be seeking good music reproduction as a way of calming their ire. Just a thought I'm glad this forum is a friendly place and also one that makes me happy to visit.

As long as no one suggests a group hug. A step too far, I'd think!

Message to all Moderators. Following recent experience, I've come to the conclusion that the reason can be summed up in one word:- Dissatisfaction. To moderate a forum is not just about siding with friends or banning someone who has oblique opinions. My feeling is, it is also keeping the user's content. In that respect they should investigate issues exhaustively and try to keep the membership happy, where ever that is possible. There again other members of the site may feel quite differently and that is the right of each member. Moderating a site is an incredibly taxing process and I feel should never be attempted by more than three individuals on any one site. Three, so as to always have at least a majority decision. To have more is ultimately ungainly and smacks of 'old boys club' to the newcomer and even to seasoned forumites.

Yo, I is back folks as the first needle threader of this thread and its been interesting to read all responses. To get an idea of who, or should that be whom, joins audio based forums I sometimes pay more attention to people in the same room as I in show demos, and also when HiFi maggies show pictures of individuals attending HiFi shows such as Bristol, Munich etc. They are invariably intense in manner, wanting to see and learn and part take in a shared or lone experience. These are the very people who populate HiFi forums I feel, they're like you, they're like me. Some take the experience as some evangelic quest, some out of first time curiosity, and some out of continued habit... like l'il ole me. Looking at the mob everyone seems so so serious as if their jobs and existence depended on their attendance. There is hardly a smiling, happy face (initially), take a look next time. Damn me and loosen up folks and folkesses, hifi, systems and forums are only a means to and end... to relax and enjoy the music you love to hear not to beat up on others you may not agree with!
Now back to my set of conga drums (seriously, helps me relax) to send messages back and forth to Brazil

I gave the crowd at the Bristol show a good laugh when I tripped over my rucksack when trying to quietly leave the Harbeth room.

Keeping the users content, is what you meant I guess. Yes, I agree, but all we can do is provide an ethos and a guiding hand, and leave the users to provide the content (see what I did there).

I thought 'keeping the users contented' was the meaning there.

Hi Jazzy They are the Hifi equivalent of the Amega wand - "secret energy" to heal your HiFi - and make your car go faster. (Nobody tell the Ferrari F1 team about them) Magic HiFi stones

As old Winston might have said "grammatical pedantry is something up with which I shall not put"

Anyway, what's these Shakey Stones?
Do you have to paint your door green for best effect?
Do they really do anything? Or is it simply down to the Placido Domingo Effect?
