Twin volume? Is it due to a "double mono" circuit? Does it also have balanced outputs? Twin volume? Is it due to a "double mono" circuit?...... Wonky Im not sure to be honest, electronics just aint my bag im afraid. Does it also have balanced outputs?...... it will not be balanced - you are falling for the bullshit again. Balancing is for pro market noisy environment with long signal leads. For domestic it is a waste of time and is in fact worse as more components in the signal path. The circuit is single ended so has to be converted to balanced in and out which means either balun transformers (look them up at Wiki) or an active balancing circuit, more noise more distortion and unnecessary apart from as a marketing scam the way it is being used now on the forums. Interesting. So, what's in the 3 boxes? Will it be one box per channel and a separate power supply, or two psus and one box for the signal stuff, I wonder, or some other configuration? Is this a one off, or part of the normal range?

I've just been looking at NVA's eBay sales site, and their product range is actually very reasonably priced (surprised!). No headphone amps that I could find though, even on NVA's website archived product range.
So I'd be interested in finding out what this is too.

So, what's in the 3 boxes? (ChrisB) Well its a pity Mr Dunn cant be with us on TAS to answer for himself, Im affraid I aint got a clue about the build or tech specs other than its a 3 box set up with 2 vol controls.
Is this a one off, or part of the normal range? (ChrisB) To the best of my knowledge It is a SE available on request - I believe he has made similar for other customers.

But it's more components in the circuit? By the way, I am not the one that mentioned driving these cans on a balanced output. I was just interested in what the spec was, as I don't remember seeing an AP10H in three boxes. I guess I should have known better to ask such a question taking the views/beliefs of the manufacturer in mind.
I'll never justify owning a set as expensive as these, but I am glad that people can, so enjoy them Jammy. You are a lucky man... My wife just does not understand why I need "better" components, so upgrades are always a challenge.

They are under Integrated amps Craig....! www.nvahifi.co.uk/integrated-amplifiers/...................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Posted on The HiFi Subjectivest forum. As Jammy says there it would be feking sight easier if I could answer there. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NVA-AP10H-Hea ... 1763648047? and same thing with speaker outs for bedroom system or near field computer system etc www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NVA-AP10P-Per ... RK:MESE:IT Anyway as Jammy says it is a special I can build if wanted. £800. Two 120va PSU (one for each channel) in separate boxes, amplifier circuit and headphone socket and inputs in the third. Twin volume controls because all of us have differences between our ears and in later life this can get gross.

Hold on a Momment Wonky.........See there you go again getting all uptight over NVA and Mr Dunn. No one said you mentioned "driving these cans on a ballanced output" all you said was "Does it also have balanced outputs?" WTF. And how is 2 vol controls more components than 1 vol control and 1 balance control............?

Im Sure i will enjoy it. But that does'nt detract from your bullshit preceding it. Any bad blood you may have towards Mr Dunn i would be greatfull if you discussed it with the man himself. Dont bring it into my "Which High End Can's" thread. Ta.

What are you on about Jammy? There is no "bad blood" in any of my posts. I forgot he does not do "balanced outputs" for the reasons you stated. There is no more to it than that. I just wanted to know the spec of the amp, as it should be a fantastic combination that will bring you a lot of enjoyment. Re-read my posts without the preconceptions Jammy. I have to stick will my lowly HD650 in comparison.

I have to stick will my lowly HD650 in comparison. Nothing wrong with the HD650. I use mine quite happily in my office connected to a Capella headphone amp. You should give that combo a try if you haven't managed to get the best out of your HD650 so far. And I am always generous towards fellow forum members .

Oh, they are singing quite nicely on the end of my headphone amp. I just don't believe that they are in the same league as Jammy's new cans.

But it's more components in the circuit? No, a stereo pot is two mono ones mounted on the same shaft - I think you'll find that electrically, it has an identical number of components in it to a pair of monos on their own shafts. A stereo pot with a balance control is the configuration with one more component - the balance control.

Well i asked for two vol controls cause my hearing is a tad impaired in one Lug. This wasnt so noticable with my previous can's but is quite pronounced with the new cans.
