That was fairly easy
Play track with the still quite new LPS GZLOZONE in place Very nice Swap to old SMPS Not bad, not there but pretty impressive Swap back to LPS Oh, the bass is back with a vengeance, detail, separation. I'll take it thanks

Been on the front end, (*very* well known) of the album playlist for a couple of days
Small step up in bass and detail playing CDs As I've done nothing to or around the system I put it down to an item or two bedding in
Difficult to leave the chair !

Various new albums, to the new set up played. Sounds good I'm back to the front of the playlist again
Nothing more to come obviously. I dun nuffing
Blow me down, there is. Subtle. Touch more space, detail, more weight in the midrange and bass
Keeps the old favourites in the playlist delivering even more music
Maybe the dust on the kit and racks has burned in Could really do with some sunlight to be able to clean it properly
Right, must change the broken rear mudguard on the bike while there is light

Playlist ended again
Really needed to listen to Caravan - as you do I had only Nespa'd them so onto the lathe and going through their discography Wonderful
Been a while since Caravan was on so various improvements showing in more music Weights increased on top of the kit and speakers, extra grounding boxes as well as the chamfered edge of the CD via the lathe
Big steps up from ancient CDs

That dodgy punter stellabagpuss has got me thinking about playing from files, again First mentioned by HD Music & Test and always in the back of my mind <thinkng>

That's a can of worms Martin, with a lot of opinions and agenda's on top. Actually wasn't this touched upon on Local Files Vs Streaming post a few months ago?

What reaches the DAC is exactly the same data - certainly if you buy a Qobuz file versus stream it. It's down to how good the digital chain is and whether it treats the two via different paths.
However, I won't pollute Mike's thread any further.

Because it just sounds much more natural and real, happy to provide a demonstration no problem at all.
Which we do a a very regular basis and with equipment thsat has very high quality streaming devices as well.
Its all grist for the mill.
Mike if you wish to discuss this please do gbive me a call at some point happy to run through what you wish to investigate

Thinking about either and both Doing both is an option that might even happen Converting my 100 odd unique reel to reel tapes to another medium has been on my mind for years. There are also some of my LPs not available anywhere which could be stored locally.

Twas your comments a while back that has kept this in the back of my mind Seems to split roughly into two camps Home made, much like stellabagpuss 's system or the ready made like the Nova Fidelity X45 and 50 I'm after good sound quality, ease of use, good ergonomics - for whatever it is that drives it and sensible price

Tony's is your man for the Novafidelity stuff. But being you want to capture a turntable and a analogue signal digitally,it changes what model you would end up with.
This can all be done via a PC, but it depends on if you like playing with tech and the potential issues you cross along the way.
What l can say, cheap is fine, but you have to put the effort in,hence why many people stream these days. All the hours of copying, and tagging etc can take months...
Anyway Mike you got lots to consider, and great to have many options

Knowing your passion for technology I suggest get some demos as you will need something that meets your needs and is easy to use.

No issue here just a quality A2D and make sure the PC's incoming sound card can handle this sample rate and your away.
Having an NAS that suppiles files via the internal network is pretty poor, like having you streaming with no signal conditioning from the IP provider

l can conclude that,it's average at best, playing Local a different level
