It’d be great to hear your old Naim system and compare it against what you have now. Impossible, but a fascinating thought.

That was so many upgrades ago and many cables as well.
Naim 82 and 2 HiCaps changed for Pass XP-20 changed for Belles changed for TAD Naim CDX changed for CDX2 changed for Rega Isis changed for TAD Chord SPM1200 changed for Belles Monos then TAD MCRU Ultimate mains changed for Coherent mains Kimber interconnects changed for Yannis Tome changed for Coherent Mana racks to Creaktiv PS Audio PPP to PS Audio P10 to Audio Magic conditioner Addition of the RTZ grounding box - big changes
Thinks that's it. An almighty difference That system cannot hold a candle to what I have now

Went through the playlist a week or so ago. Sure I was hearing more music Trying to be as scientific as possible I went 'off list' for while and now I'm back on it There is *definitely* more music coming through than before The TAD D-1000 and 2500 must have run in now.... Some Coherent BD cables into the RTZ are a small amount of months old The RTZ gave an immediate improvement. Does it also improve further over time and use ? My semi scientific stab in the dark The RTZ or the BD cables have now reached - or are still moving towards optimum Nothing else has changed SteveC have you noticed improvements from your RTZ after having done nothing at all ?

Mike I'd forgotten about it to tell you the truth. Moved on to all sorts of listening around clocking and new ethernet/USB cables for my streaming and files. I will revisit grounding once everything else has settled in and I have a "handle" on the sound again!

I'm in the unusual situation of having changed nothing in a long time - wanted to test what I'm hearing to confirm it isn't my imagination.
Having the kit constantly connected to the RTZ could be another factor, draining the rubbish from the kit - maybe

Back on the playlist once more and hearing more and more subtleties in the music. Vocal breathier, sounds from the background that I swear were not there before, more of the room acoustics, more detail, instruments and sounds that just were not there previously Probably 2nd or 3rd time since my last post. Looking around and thinking hard - with my brain ! - nothing has changed
Be happy to demonstrate but I don't want any of you grubby lot coming in here and breathing, let alone coughing or sneezing.

RTZ grounding box came with 4 thinner and cheaper Black Ravioli stuck on the base, serving as feet
Tried thicker pads in contact with the frame. Sound improved, they stayed
Wondered what difference there might be if I put the thicker pads directly *under* the stuck on thinner ones
Close. Need more listening but could be better. Easier to dust under too
Will report back

Interesting, Mike. Due to costs, I have the Big Pads under each main component but Pads under the grounding boxes, streamer, reclocker, PSUs etc. I may just slowly move to more Big Pads as time goes on.

There is a view that multiple BR Pads make a difference. First heard this from a bloke stacking Mk1 BRs 3 or 4 high and saying it made a big improvement over 1
I and I think you too found 4 of the latest BRs are an improvement over 3 under one component Tony suggested 6 and 8 (can) sound better, single height spread around underneath the kit A bit expensive having 6 or 8 under all components !

I would suggest that the older tea bags have an accumulative effect, with the newer versions I am not so sure

My moons ago I used eight stacked on each corner or my reference system, however the big pads were a good step up

I'm wary of having 2. Any more would be temporary unless much better sound, then I would look to find a way to stick them or keep stability

Going through the playlist with 2 up Black Ravioli says there is an improvement. Will leave in place for a day or two and then A/B compare

Listening to Tony Williams Turn it over while vacuuming the room I had the volume up nicely. Boss in the garden so volume not a problem Sit my old bones down for Tony Williams - Believe it Still at a nice volume, higher than usual peaking at 84db, I just looked Mighty fine. Utter clarity, separation, music ! Tony Williams drums Allan Holdsworth guitar Alan Pasqua keyboards Tony Newton on bass Jazz fusion at its best one for you John ?

Really tight band. Holdsworth at his best IMO
Been listening to this for 45 years- ouch
Never heard it anything like this
