Listen to very little new music. Lots of new to me music though. Assume I will stream or have files. Later rather than sooner Much of what I want is not available to stream Still discovering more music in the media I have, CD and reel to reel. Not enough hours in the day to listen to all I want. CDs yet to play on the main system is down to about 300. CDs yet to play on the latest version of the system about 3000 Digging more and more out of what I already have and love is wonderful

Only disadvantage for me now is anyone visiting will have to have my chair to hear the full glory of it all ! Do you suffer from incontinence? If not your guests will be seated in comfort, so you should get some feel good factor to compensate you from sharing your throne.

Giving up my perfectly positioned chair is the disadvantage As a top bloke and all round hero I am prepared to do that, especially if they are bigger than me

You could always give the guest(s) the option of sitting on your lap, Mike.

You could always give the guest(s) the option of sitting on your lap, Mike. Nah, that wouldn't work. I'd have to raise the speakers to suit

After a Captain Beefheart and Caravan play through I'm back on the album playlist of albums I know very well
Bajofondo Supervielle sounding better than ever right from the first notes
Changes ? That Tacima conditioner 6 way and the boss moved a dog bed in here which I can't think makes much difference Still haven't plugged anything in the Tacima as I'm working out what plugs where. Ought to plug it all in and find out if it works for me
<later> Really surprised at the amount of detail, separation, bass and flow

Been going to move the RTZ grounding box for a few months now. Just done it.
This enables me to have mains cables, interconnects and grounding cables in more space and be able to work on the system more easily.
Moved from shelf 2 on left Creaktiv rack to shelf 2 right Creaktiv rack. Only cables disconnected from the RTZ end then replaced as tidy as 10 cables can be amongst others.
Took a while as I had to shuffle all sorts so I can't swear I am right, but it seems even more bass and a touch more detail
Possibly the position perhaps more likely the out and in of the cables. Could it also be the cables are touching each other less. The RTZ grounding cables are now hanging between kit and RTZ rather than scrunched up against the wall behind.
Mr. RTZ is dropping in tomorrow. Perhaps he has a view

Visit from Tony @tonyc yesterday.
A lot covered.
Part 1 Main reason for the visit. Check and tweak speaker position for best performance direct to my chair.
The last changes made by me giving an improvement in sound quality but not sure I had it right
Enter Tony who knows the system well. Good look around and I vacate my seat to let him do his work. Doctor John music of choice and sounding good
Tiny movement to the speakers, sit down, play, repeat - about 5 or 6 times.
Done !
Sitting down I cannot see any difference from my chair but I can hear slightly more width with a more complete overall sound. Nice step up.
I got quite a way there all on my ownsome but getting it to where we are now is close to black magic.
This morning I looked hard to see what Tony had done. Indents on the carpet from the Townshend stands give clues. The change in position was tiny and that was from original to final. I saw Tony make subtle changes to the speakers on the stands but can't see what happened
If you don't have a convenient Tony it is well worth having a go. Photos and marks or tape on the floor before you start

Part 2 Pre Amp Talking to a TAD dealer after I noticed he was selling a 2500 and TAD speakers very low price. Assumed he was one of Tony's dealers. Found out the TAD UK setup has changed a, er tad He also had a TAD C2000 Pre Amp coming up ex-demo, half price - gulp I am a TAD fan with the D-1000, 2500 and E1 speakers so that got my interest. He was so keen for me to try it he brought it to me. Helped he was going to Ascot show, just down the road. Left if on from early morning to late afternoon to be nice and warm. Connected up the XLR connections from the D-1000 and to the 2500. Expected it to be better, but by how much and would it be worth the money. An extra box and cable in the chain could downgrade but this is a super duper pre, so bot sure how it would sound Er, no. Slightly muffled and muddled is the best description I can think of A step or two down Didn't help it was half silver and only half black Thought all around the system to work out if I had done something wrong. No. Didn't sound great Tony's thoughts are that the Pre and DAC in the D-1000 are fantastic and the C2000 is not as good. This makes the D-1000, CD, Pre, DAC an even more incredible deal Now Tony didn't know the C2000 would be here. By coincidence he said he would bring a surprise and it was the latest Tony Pre Amp. Not that enthusiastic as the C2000 had been a let down Same XLR connections from D-1000 and to 2500. Different story on the sound quality. On the small sample of music I heard it was good. Certainly good enough to have another go at. In around a month I will hear it again. To be more accurate I will hear the next model that Tony makes

The Belles saw off the Pass. Nice step up. The TAD was always better than the Belles but when I had the RTZ ground the increase was substantially magnified.
The D-1000 is a stunningly good buy for the money

The Pass is hampered by the standard d-type power cable. No such problem with the Revelation Audio cable.

The version of Tony’s preamp I heard a while back was phenomenally good. Zero noise floor, utterly transparent yet without sounding sterile or etched.
When I’m rich and famous I will have one!

As someone who likes to enjoy lots of new music Mike, I can't believe you still aren't streaming yet! Are you going to have another go at it sometime? It took long enough to drag you out of your stuck-in-a-rut vinyl obsession Jules! .... mind you, Justin (user211 on other fora) would say very similar things about the pre-streaming me!! T'was Justin who eventually managed to nag me into seeing the (musical) light.
