I was about to relay the sad news about Annie. She was a trailblazer, and so much more. She had damn fine tastes in music too. RIP Annie Nightingale, Legend.

I think Frank Farian deserves a mention here, he passed at 82.
A pop svengali, he wrote some great tunes and will always be remembered for Boney M, and hopefully not Milli Vanilli.
Ra-ra-rasputin!

Started my interest in TV themes and incidental music, with The Avengers. Edwin Astley, Ron Grainer and John Barry followed.

I saw her back in 1972. She sang her other other hit that day, "What Have They Done to My Song Ma".

RIP Paul Brett.
I've just found this on Facebook, from Michelle, Paul's wife - Paul was a Facebook "friend". Paul played lead guitar with Strawbs (although he was never actually a member), The Overlanders, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera, The Velvet Opera, Tintern Abbey, Fire, Roy Harper, Al Stewart, Lonnie Donegan, and his own band Paul Brett Sage.
Paul also performed as a session musician with The Ivy League, The Flower Pot Men, Carter & Lewis, Hudson Ford, Johnny Joyce, Michel Polnareff, Max Bygraves, The Cyril Stapleton Orchestra, Ralph McTell, Neil Christian, Status Quo, Paul King, Barclay James Harvest, and Tom Newman.
He switched to twelve-string guitar in the 1970s.
He would go on to a lengthy solo career as a mostly 12-string guitarist, recording contemporary rock albums, along with a few progressive works including the complex guitar instrumentals 'Earth Birth' and 'Interlife'. In later years he would release a number of modern folk, instructional and mainstream albums including several K-Tel records. He also amassed a lengthy body of work as a session and touring musician, appearing with the likes of Steve Hillage, Jimi Hendrix, Van Der Graff Generator, Mott The Hoople, Status Quo, Free and many others.
In later years Paul worked as a guitar designer and demonstrator for Vintage Guitars in the UK, including The Viator 6 and 12 string travel guitars, The Gemini, The Viaten tenor guitar, and the Paul Brett signature 6 and 12 string guitars. Released in 2017 was the Statesboro' 12 string which is a tribute to the blues musician, Blind Willie McTell. He was also a great collector of antique and vintage guitars.

RIP Ian Lavender; the last man standing from the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard platoon has died at the age of 77. I'm guessing that when he gets to the pearly gates and St Peter asks for his name, Arthur Lowe will jump out from behind a cloud and shout " Don't tell him, Pike!" OBITI remember my father remarking that they got so much of the social structure right in Dad's Army, because it WAS always the bank manager who got to lead the platoon, and he almost invariably chose his 2IC at the bank as his Sergeant, and so on.
