As some of you may have seen, Dave Prowse has passed, yes, the ex-bodybuilder famous for being the bloke in the Darth Vader costume (and the Green Cross Man) has left us, but how about this as a cheeky way to honour Dave... DARTH VADER STATUE APPEARS ON EMPTY COLSTON PLINTHA statue of Darth Vader has appeared overnight in Bristol paying homage to actor Dave Prowse. The statue – perhaps more accurately described as a figurine – is on the empty stone plinth in the centre on which the statue of Edward Colston used to stand before being toppled and thrown into the docks in June. Prowse, who grew up in Southmead, played the role of the Sith lord in the original Star Wars trilogy. He died on Sunday at the age of 85. Rather than being a slave trader like Colston, the fictional Darth Vader was in fact once a slave himself. “ Anakin Skywalker, the one destined to bring balance to the Force, and his mother were both bought and sold as slaves on Tatooine until a Jedi Master and his apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi, came into their lives,” writes Floor 8. “ After the events of The Phantom Menace, Anakin was taken on as Kenobi’s apprentice and the rest is cinematic history as he would eventually fall to the Dark Side, becoming the Sith Lord Darth Vader.” Back in the real world, almost 500 people have already signed a petition to get a statue of Prowse on the empty plinth. One suggestion is not to get Prowse to appear as Vader but as his other most famous character, the Green Cross Code Man. SOURCESomebody on Twitter reckons it's offensive to Ewoks.

Loved the Green Cross Code clip.
RIP Darth Vader. Apparently Dave Prowse didn't do the voice or act the parts with the helmet removed and face exposed. I didn't know that.

Baron Timothy (Tim) de Paravicini passed away yesterday (17th of December 2020).
You guys know more about him than I do, I'm sure, but here's the basics anyway.
He was an English electronic engineer, designer and founder of EAR Yoshino. He has consulted for a number of Hi-Fi Manufactures including, Luxman, Quad and Musical Fidelity. He has had involvement with the professional recording industry, designing custom equipment and consulted on sound engineering for Astoria studio, Paul Epworth's Church Studio and Mobile Fidelity's mastering studio.
Apparently he'd been battling cancer for some time; colon, and then liver.

I heard this earlier today. Big loss to both the hifi and music industries and to the huge number of people who knew him. I was once very flattered by a comment he made about a photo I had taken. Put very simply, he was a remarkable person who knew a lot of stuff about a lot of things.

Sad to hear that. I've had a chat with him on a couple of occasions at shows in the past. Some of his EAR creations are excellent and his intelligence shone through.
I didn't much like his musical tastes, admittedly. RIP, Tim

I didn't much like his musical tastes, admittedly. RIP, Tim That's interesting. I had some EAR gear over the years. Some of it rather ho-hum sounding tbh, but I have fond recollection of a copper chassis pair of monoblocks, quite stunning to look at! So what were his musical tastes, Martin?
