I've a feeling that this thread is going to get very full, and quite depressing. That's not to say we shouldn't still honour our musical heroes here though.

I always remember a contest, years ago, on a Radio One show. In fact, it was so long ago I was still listening to Radio One. Anyway, the DJ asked people to call in (no Tweets and stuff back then) with the name of a song that didn't feature the title in the actual lyrics; something like Bowie's "Space Oddity" for instance...
Somebody called in with Bill Withers' "Lovely Day" and won a prize for sheer cheek.
RIP Bill.

One of many, I know, but some seem harder to take than others. R.I.P. John Prine.

One of the few people ever to be my hero, the great Sir Stirling Moss, has died. "British motor racing legend Sir Stirling Moss has died at the age of 90 following a long illness. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time, even though he did not win the World Championship." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/52261216

Just read this on Facebook, such a sad day, Sir Stirling Moss was a hero, genius at the wheel and a thoroughly nice guy with it.
RIP.

I remember watching him racing on TV. Probably highlights, black and white. Desperate for him to win every time. He seemed to have more that his share of bad luck and mechanicals
Still the byword for racing drivers
RIP Stirling

To have won 212 races out of 529 entered across his career speaks volumes.

Like many of us here I grew up watching the Goodies Ironically he played a character that was the very different to himself but did it so well
