Yes, a proper legend. Only saw Rush once but very glad I did. I only saw them once too and it was the worst concert I've ever been to, not because of Rush, but the venue and the sound, it was awful sound due to crap seats and couldn't hear the band for all the beer swilling assholes around me singing their heads off. I had waited 30 years to see them and very nearly walked out, I vowed never to see anyone at the SECC Glasgow again, never been back. Rush I've no doubt were awesome that night but we couldn't tell, we heard virtually nothing of them. RIP Neil, been listening to you since 1976 ☹️

The concert at the O2 I went to wasn't amazing - for me what Rush excelled at was their studio recordings and thankfully they have left us a truly incredible catalogue.

I saw them four times in the eighties and the sound quality each time was absolutely exemplary. I met the band and witnessed a soundcheck before a gig at the Brighton Centre - he was a gent, as were all three of them. Sad day.

A giant has passed.
Terry Jones, through Python, and before that, a little children's show called Do Not Adjust Your Set, helped to give people of my generation an incalculably valuable gift, a form of comedy which, while resonating with us, our parents, for the life of them, couldn't understand. Which was brilliant!.
It was ours; in the same way that our music was "ours". It was the first British Rock 'n' Roll comedy.
While the "smart set" chuckled about politics, and the mainstream laughed at casual (or more often, overt) racism and mother-in-law jokes, you took us careering headlong into the theatre of the absurd, and far beyond.
We thank you, most humbly, for that gift, Mister Terence Graham Parry Jones. We are forever in debt to you and the partners-in-crime you've had over the years.
R.I.P. Mr Creosote, Sir Bedevere, Brian's Mum, but mostly R.I.P. Terry Jones. You were a legend, sir.

Goodbye to Andrew Weatherall. The guy was a legend in dance music through the 90s. Met him once or twice minding clubs and he was a decent guy. Did a lot of behind the scenes work too with people like Bjerk and The Happy Mondays and Primal Scream.
Get a listen to Screamadelica to hear his style.Superb album.
