The original Thunderbirds films are FAB! Just don't mention that horror directed by Jonathan Frakes. Oh no, look what's on the way to kids TV ...

Did you like it, Tim? Don't know anything about it, but it has a good cast.

Did you like it, Tim? Don't know anything about it, but it has a good cast. I thought it was outstanding, despite working out (well 50% anyway, without giving too much away) who the offender was. Didn't know anything about it prior to watching it, just went by the IMDB rating and the fact it was trending on Amazon Prime movies. Superb film and I'll watch it again - 8.5/10

I forgot one, saw American Sniper last week. True story directed by Clint Eastwood based around Chris Kyle, a US Navy Seal sniper with the most recorded kills in US military history. I really enjoyed it 8/10

Thanks, Tim. American Sniper is on my list to see. It's a bit 'Hollywood' in places, but I can forgive it that due to it's factual foundation - always a plus for me. The ending is very poignant, so don't leave as soon as the credits start rolling. A film which deserves to be seen on the big screen IMO.

'Boyhood' outstanding film, really loved it and so refreshing to see a film that's so 'real'.

Thanks, Tim. American Sniper is on my list to see. ...and it was indeed a truly gripping film. Thought provoking - a repugnant job depicted with some empathy and the sickening knowledge that it was needed. I thought Sienna Miller redeemed herself very well after a bit of a career lapse (she went to my school). 9/10

Fifty Shades of Grey
Having read the book, I fully expected to be bored to tears by a sub-standard, coarsely depicted, bonk-buster. After all, the book is no great shakes in the literary field. What I got was something very much more finely crafted, greatly helped by Taylor-Johnson's interpretation and the overall quality of film-making. Dakota Johnson plays the part to perfection, from innocent flirtation to the final realisation that she is in way, way too deep. In fact, the only aspect that defies credulity is a 22-ish year old with her looks who is still a virgin, but that's necessary to the storyline and adheres to the book. Beautifully photographed, in all the scenes but especially in the sex scenes and his 'playroom', the film is lifted from what could have been a very mediocre production. Johnson steals the screen, and rightly so, with her smouldering youthful innocence and great acting. This is one rare example where the film betters the book.
I could hardly recommend it to many, especially the type of man in my cinema audience who squirmed all the way through, unable to take the intensity without laughing it off. This is backed up by IMDB's ludicrous 3.8 rating. Go with an open mind and you may just be surprised and a little unsettled. 7/10.

Starts pretty straightforwardly, then goes into a section that looks like an unwilling drugs mule horror story, and develops into the main character (Lucy) accessing a massively increased percentage of her brain. I'm not going to say anything more, but it is exceptionally gripping. The dual use of Lucy in the present day and Lucy as our early common ancestor plays a part. Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman. Don't look it up on Wikipedia, because it spills the beans on the whole story line.
