Not a film, but a series, The Leftovers. Found this very good indeed and can't wait for the next season!
each episode messes with your head more than the last..

"Let the right one in" A Scandinavian vampire film that's very different from the norm for this genre.

Maybe not remarkable but really good, I loved it. Maybe the best film over the hols The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! Probably still on iPlayer en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pirates!_In_an_Adventure_with_Scientists!

Sunshine
The premise is utterly silly: send a fission bomb the 'size of Manhattan' to reignite a giant fusion reactor (The Sun) because it's dying.... I'd like to have that schoolboy physics explained to me! Putting the idea aside, what you have is a rather excellent ensemble performance directed by Danny Boyle with some spectacular and memorable imagery that will keep you entertained and on the edge of your seat to the end. For a low budget film, it delivers much more than you could reasonably expect. Despite the predictable ending, the way that the story unfolds is intriguing. Along the way, they find the original ship that failed in its task and, by diverting their course, almost their undoing too.
I found myself enjoying this film far more than I had expected. 7/10.

Solaris is one of the few examples I know of an original and a remake where both are really good.

Despite it being more than 25 year old, it has taken me until last night to get around to watching ‘Mo Better Blues’.
I found it hugely enjoyable. Denzel Washington is his usual, effort-less cool self as loyal, jazz artist and Spike Lee as his liability-of-a manager. Also a nice movie to listen to if you like jazz!

Not remarkable but I did enjoy Gravity. Just while we're on a space theme.
