Don't Look Up - Fun movie and quite interesting. The new Leonardo DiCaprio film. I do like some of his more down to earth roles and this is one of those.
Jennifer Lawrence is better looking here than I've ever seen her. Really stunning she looks like she could play Cleopatra.
Cate Blanchette at 52 looks like she's 30 or less. Between this and Ragnarok she looks like one of the most beautiful women on Earth.

Statham only does well with Ritchie directing from what I've seen

The Stath does pretty much the same in every film he does, but Wrath of Man is a cut above his normal fare - I really enjoyed it, just needed a slightly stronger ending for me.

Mother!
Not sure what to make of this one but it was remarkable in that it does a great job of depicting the moment to moment uncomfortableness in an awkward situation between people. In that regard it felt real.
Interestingly enough to me it also manages to present events so much like the way they unfold in a dream. By far the closest thing to a dream that I've ever seen on screen, and I don't mean just visually I mean in just the bizarre way people's actions come about.
Directed by Darren Aronofsky who also directed the films Pi, The Fountain, Requiem For A Dream and Black Swan.

Mr Church on Netflix
Was interested, as it had Eddie Murphy playing a serious role. Started while cooking dinner.
Quite a sweet movie.

Remarkably cringy at times, misses wide if the mark of what is acceptable humour to us Brits! But the message about the MAGA (I mean, Don't look up) crew, is solid. As is the short termism, greed and billionaires hold on everything. The greater interest in celeb than pending doom is portrayed.
The message /parallels to climate change are strong. I know many of the actors feel passionately about it. Wonder if they have changed their CO2 footprints yet?
Best bit, the Bezos/Musk/Gates/ Pichai/Zuckerberg/Cook character, announcing in the year 24000 (odd), that it was a Bronteroc (pretty looking raptor like creature) that just chewed lady Trumps face off - just as all his tech tracking data said it would. They just didn't know what a Bronteroc was before then😂

Oh yes - every 10 years at least. The last time was in 4K and it remains utterly magnificent.

Oh yes - every 10 years at least. The last time was in 4K and it remains utterly magnificent. Apparently the last (2018?) 4K version wasn't up to snuff, and this new 2021 version trounces it.

Every 10 years would be about right.
Even if only to hear "I can't do that Dave..."

Also to hear Gayaneh from Kachaturian, never was music more appropriate for the emptiness of space. And Ligeti's Requiem, used when he falls into 'the stars'.

Also to hear Gayaneh from Kachaturian, never was music more appropriate for the emptiness of space. And Ligeti's Requiem, used when he falls into 'the stars'. You get a choice of the original six-channel soundtrack and a " restored" audio surround mix, both encoded in DTS-Master Audio that is, " crisp and clear"; the surround comes into its own in the final hotel sequence apparently. Obviously, I'll be pumping it through my 5.1 A/V system. I'm betting that the sub comes into play very effectively too. Christopher Nolan oversaw this new print of the film, by the way, and it was made from the original 65mm camera negative with as much of the digital processing as possible left out. I really do have high hopes for it. Words like " definitive," are being bandied about. The only negativity I've encountered is due to the fact that it's release format has a 1.85:1 aspect ratio i.e. " US widescreen cinema standard" rather than the original CinemaScope, which had an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 and which would have resulted in much more pronounced " letterboxing". I must admit, I'd like to have seen both aspect ratios included rather than just the one, for authenticity's sake if nothing else.
