That's a good one, John. I like the Dust series, some absolute gems among them.

My mrs has been watching a Korean series called Mr Sunshine on Netflix - it's set in the 1870's when the US is trying to colonize the country and really is beautifully made with great attention to detail. Budget was eye watering. Look at the production quality -

"Casually interested" would describe my feelings best. Not that bothered but it may turn out not to be a stinker.

I'm up for it. I've liked what I've seen of Noah Hawley's work.

Monsieur Spade - I've just finished e1 and it's already shaping up to be some of the best TV this year.
Renegade Nell - Watched the whole series and still can't make my mind up whether I enjoyed it as much as I was supposed to. It did end with an original (I think) song from Nick Cave. I think Louisa Harland was better as Orla McCool in Derry Girls though, and it was a bit confusing hearing her without the Derry accent.
Sleepy Hollow (Ch5) is an old series that I bought on DVD years ago, and which Jeanette and I both enjoyed. I've just started watching it again, for no good reason, and I'd forgotten how good it is, with just the right amount of humour.

Star Trek: Discovery - I think they may have blown the SFX budget for the entire season in episode one of the fifth and final series.

New on Prime, a series I've been waiting for since it was first announced: Fallout. All eight episodes are available immediately, and I've read that s2 already has the green light.

I'm in. The conveyor belt for the boss has gaps upstream
Currently on Alex Ryder My imagination or is it lacking what the first two series had...

It's just not my thing, but I'll give it more time. MikeMusic I have to backtrack on Colin From Accounts. For some bizarre reason, when I watched what I thought was E1, it was actually the one about meeting her dreadful parents (E6?). I had no back-story and didn't know there was one. No wonder I was confused, being dropped into the most cringe episode of all. I realised my mistake recently and went back to watch it from E1. Much better, and really has its funny moments. You should try Coupling on iPlayer. It's very funny too, extremely tight and witty writing.

It's very funny too, extremely tight and witty writing. +1 for Coupling Martin, did you recognise Walton Goggins (a.k.a. Boyd Crowder from Justified) under all that Ghoul makeup? He was also "Cooper Howard" the cowboy at the birthday party. I'm at a bit of an advantage, in a way, having played the game so I know some of the basic scenarios already, but they shovelled rather a lot in for the first episode. The game itself unfolds at a more leisurely pace, depending how you want to play it.. Also, in the game the search is for the protagonist's baby who was in a cryo-pod with her but is gone when the pod opens. There is no society being attacked by the surface dwellers. In fact, your first game-task is to find your way out of your empty Vault, and back to the remains of your old house. Factions like the Brotherhood of Steel don't appear until later on in the game if I remember correctly. The show scored 10/10 on IMDb, and it got 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. “ Fallout” is like nothing you’ve ever seen; for that reason alone, you won’t be able to turn away". VARIETY Fallout review – an absolute blast of a TV show
This immaculately made, supremely witty post-apocalyptic drama is yet another brilliant video game adaptation. It’s funny, self-aware and tense – an astonishing balancing act - THE GRAUNIAD It seems like the people who have binged all eight episodes like it.

Ahhh shit. I've started Fallout.
Ive been thinking a lot lately about tone in a film/series.
Fallout has more serious and oppressive tone in 5 minutes than I've seen in 3 episodes of 3 Body Problem.
The tone is all wrong in 3BP imo. It's too jokey. What the hell is there to joke about in 3BP? How would season 1 of True Detective have faired had Cohle been hamming it up all the time?
The ship slicing scene will be the real test for me because in the Chinese 3BP it was handled very well, was drawn out perfectly and had a serious tone to it.
Will continue with Fallout for now.

Ye I spoke a bit too soon lol. It got weird but still felt like there was something nasty underlying it all.
It has amazed me how much knowing the source material (or not) effects my viewing of a show. I never played Fallout before so am experiencing this world for the first time.
If anyone would ever care to just unplug their brain and dip into a nasty little atmosphere that works very well for 3/4 of a movie based on a game (and skip the opening scene with the children) then Resident Evil: Welcome To Racoon City is a treat with a few nice little surprises.

Get past E1 and they properly get into the groove. It gets funnier the further you go.
