Didn't Poul Anderson also write Cthulhu novels or am I misremembering? H. P. Lovecraft. No, sorry, I was thinking of Piers Anthony.

It was still H. P. Lovecraft who created the Cthulhu mythos.

"Chthon" by Piers Anthony.
And of course we have Cthulhu macrofasciculumque, a commensal of certain species of Termite!

Just finished watching the Norwegian police series Seizure on All 4 - it started very promisingly but got a bit messy and convoluted in the last few eps. Well acted though.
Will most likely try Trom - the latest Scandi Noir on BBC Four.

I watched the first of ITV's new "Murder in Provence" today, and thoroughly enjoyed it. One main selling point for me was a starring role for Roger Allam, who you might know as Morse's boss - DCI Fred Thursday - in Endeavour. His lover's mum is played by Patricia Hodge, another long-time favourite of mine. It's a gentle meander through murder, and there's more than a hint of Maigret about it, except I can't remember Maigret ever describing his boss as looking like a "twat".
Lovely scenery, great chemistry between the two leads (Allam and Nancy Carroll) and some excellent, witty, dialogue. It's well worth a watch, and as an added bonus absolutely nobody attempts a dodgy faux-French accent.

I'm starting Archive 81. It has the right atmosphere for me so far.

Just finished Trom on BBC Four - efficient enough but not the most memorable Scandi noir; however it's worth watching just for the stunning panoramic views of the Faroe Islands.

Going to give Trom a go as a visit to the Faroes has long been on my bucket list but I won't be going anytime soon.

Somebody feed Phil (Netflix) is interesting - sort of drama Trying to like The Umbrella Academy. First episode was rather childish. 2nd episode less so. Perhaps it's winning us over! Sort of at a low tide of things to watch at the moment - usual summer TV blues I guess.

Rig 45: Murder at Sea
"Riveting Swedish thriller from Walter Presents."
Well it's not riveting, not a thriller, and not really Swedish. But it is from Walter Presents on All 4.
Instead of going to bed as I should have done, I punished myself with about 30 minutes of this coma inducing dreck before realising *anything* else would have been better. Imagine 'Vigil' set on an oil rig but with a level of acting and production that would make 'Crossroads' worthy of a BAFTA. That's the soap, not the film ...

Jeez - Vigil was bad enough dreck. Based on your comment, I will NOT be watching that!!

After binging on the wonderful Tour de France every day for 3 weeks - yes it was drama - I now find myself looking around for more to put on the conveyor belt for the boss
Rather listen to music...

Have you tried " Murder in Provence," Mike? It should be on the ITV player. I've just started watching " Supernatural," again, from the very beginning, all 15 seasons. Good grief, those lads look awfully young.

I'm starting Archive 81. It has the right atmosphere for me so far. Count me as a fan of Dina Shihabi, a superb actress whom I have seen before in Altered Carbon. Archive 81 is a damned creepy and mesmerising series so far.
