Not intellectual, but watchable. I used to think Jean Tripplehorn had a very appropriate surname, especially in Basic Instinct.

Incidentally (although " Brand New Cherry Flavor" runs it close) have you worked out that " Archive 81" is probably the strangest thing you'll watch all year? I seem to remember desribing it as a sort of a cross beween Berberian Sound Studio and Rosemary's Baby.

Oh yes, I got the same feeling with The Leftovers, The OA, Lost etc. I love not knowing WTF is going on, and piecing it together.

Season 2 of "Stranger Things," done and dusted. I'm really pleased I stuck with it.

I just love the intro music. I ignored it for ages, I generally avoid things starring children, especially often terminally annoying American children, but the hype eventualy won out. The kids are almost bearable.

I've just watched the third (and last) episode of "Murder in Provence," and I really hope it gets a second series. It was thoroughly enjoyable, had some lovely scenery, and the scripts were a joy, with loads of humour tossed in, not always where, or when, you expect it. Roger Allam is superb, as is the rest of the core ensemble of Nancy Carroll, Keala Settle (I was stunned to find out she's American) Patricia Hodge, Kirsty Bushell, and Geff Francis.
Thoroughly recommended.

And (yet) another one bites the dust. The third, and what looks like the last, series of The Orville was probably the best one yet. Way fewer fart jokes, and a much stronger, plot-oriented show, it was different from the first two series in all the good ways it could be. It was still full of humour, but it also had epic space battles and an actual plot arc that was resolved. Deaths, marriages, love among the stars, Moclan naked mating rituals in forests, this one had it all. It was almost like "real" Star Trek, with a wicked sense of humour. Oh, one more thing, Gordon sings, several times, so does Bortus.

Not quite sure how I came across Lilyhammer but started watching - not generally into 'dramedy' but it's quite engaging, with Steven Van Zandt being the reason it works.

Anyone who likes Neil Gaiman should try The Sandman on Netflix.

It was good. Implausible violence though. Oh yes, but that's forgetting the solid characterisation (you even find sympathy for the town bully Kai on occasion), terrific storyline, great set-pieces, the best fight scenes ever and implausibly good-looking people. Not to mention the sex. Did I forget that?
