Sutherland in lead or no.2 ? Does he have much time on screen ? Either way the only part I ever like him in was Dirty Dozen He's just the "big name" they roped in I think. I've only watched the one episode, but I think he's just going to turn up once in a while rather than playing a lead role. Good news Worth a punt then

I've started watching "Midnight Mass" (Netflix) following recommendations from some of the Liverpool footy players, and I have to say it's a cut above the normal spooky stuff. For a start there are actually spooky bits and it's not jam packed with attempted jump-scares, so when one arrives it actually has a bit of an effect. I'm 3 episodes in and there were a couple of really saurprising, "I never saw THAT coming," moments towards the end of e3. I'm still not 100% sure who's good, who's evil, or if anyone is actually either. Definitely worth a go if you've got Netflix and "The tale of a small, isolated island community whose existing divisions are amplified by the return of a disgraced young man and the arrival of a charismatic priest." is about all I want to say about it so's not to give anything at all away". It's definitely best approached knowing as little as possible about the plot prior to viewing.

I've started watching Paris Police 1900 on BBC Four. It packs quite a punch - starts off with a deadly Presidential blowjob and goes on from there. Not for the feint of heart and based on historical events of the time which beggar belief today - the insights it brings to many common place attitudes of the time are starkly and powerfully portrayed. It is beautifully crafted with stunning lighting, photography and attention to detail. The budget must have been gigantic - you almost get the feeling no expense has been spared to bring Paris to life. Highly recommended.

I finished watching "Midnight Mass" (Netflix) last night, and I've been trying to think of some way to describe the experience without giving anything at all away, and there really isn't much I can say. So, It held my attention, there were quite a few "I didn't see that coming," moments, actual spookiness, and that's about it. Many of your initial suppositions will, quite possibly, be proven wrong as it progresses through its 7 episodes, and some will be spot-on, just not always the ones you think. Also, as I said before, it's best watched without Googling what it's all about, ignorance may not be bliss, but it does make the whole thing much more enjoyable, and impactful. It's not got any real distinct parallels, other than the setting perhaps, but The Wicker Man would be a distant relative.

While I've been hors de combat I've taken the opportunity to start on Star Trek Discovery, series 2. 10 episodes down, and I'd seriously forgotten how good it was.

I thought Sex Education S3 started a little flat, but the coach trip to France (E5) picked up and was bloody hilarious.
Still a funny series.

Star Trek Discovery s2 done, on to s3 now. I've also started "Made For Love," which might turn out to be quite funny, in a dark sort of way.

Black Spot (Zone Blanche) Small town - Villefranche - relatively cut off from the rest of France, no mobile or GPS(!) signal, creepy forest surrounding it and strange goings-on. While it spurns realism, it's suspenseful and mysterious while also containing some deliberate laughs. It's going in the direction of Stranger Things or Twin Peaks. Pretty good so far.
