Yes, it's a slow burner and draws you in quite gently at first.
It doesn't have the sheer visceral impact of, say, Banshee that has you by the balls by about half way through episode 1.

Whilst a little slow to catch up, I have started watching Dexter and Prison Break, which so far are I'm enjoying, both well written and acted. Dexter is a little gruesome at times (well for anyone who queasy!) but it's well thought through and the storylines join up together well. Prison Break I started watching with wifey and I like it because it's quite clever and again the storylines work well. I'd recommend both

I wasn't sure about True Detective series 2, with its new story and different actors. However, and despite the extreme colloquial language making it difficult to follow, it's really well acted and portrayed. Not pleasant in parts, but grimly realistic.

I have the season 1 box set, Mike. Just couldn't get into it, didn't like it at all. Yeah I get that Martin, the first season is ssllooww but if you managed to get beyond it you won't be disappointed. I was very luck because I was warned that the first season was slow, so plodded through and by the second season began to enjoy it, in fact it has to be second only to West Wing for me!

We've just started watching the second season of The Following. So far it's as exciting as the first, and a little more bloodthirsty. Kevin Bacon really is underrated; I mean, Tremors was a classic wasn't it?
We're also enjoying Humans on Channel 4

Yes, The Following was excellent (but very hard to watch in places) from beginning to end, and Humans has promise.

Agree, the first season of the Following was good and Humans maybe, I've not got my head around it quite yet, but it has promise.

I get that, they are totally different types of shows, I just think that Breaking Bad has a somewhat underrated storyline... It's by no way as (for want of a better word) clever as the West Wing script but for me very much on the same level of enjoyment.

We are going to jump to episode 10 & then 20 and see if it just stays the same - in the bin with it unless it blows is away. I will look at a couple of the suggestions above and try then next. Breaking bad is still the best one we've seen in a long while over the 5 seasons, there is no contest. G of T is good and I watch all that comes out. Marie won't watch it, not her thing. She's a real Sci fi fiend! Continuum she quite likes and Extant she tolerates:-

Person of Interest bit of a slow burner but I really enjoyed the later series.

Steve - go straight to the top and watch Banshee. I doubt you'll regret it (hint, it isn't about witches).

Another series worth noting is Lie To Me with Tim Roth who does a great job of convincing you his character is quite mad (but excellent). I was really disappointed when we came to the end of this (and found out it had been cancelled)

I like Person of Interest. I was in Cairns at Easter and ran into an old friend. Went out to dinner and found out his partner has a striking resemblance to Root. She hasn't watched the show so didn't get what I was on about.
I watched the first season of The Following and the whole time all I could think off was writers meetings and discussions on painting themselves into yet another corner with the plot. Then drawing straws on which goodie was going to be turned into a baddie to get them out of it. I'm sure the actors don't even know, which is why I find it so lame.
