Comical voice mode on "What do you think of it so far?" - "Rubbish, boom, boom"
No actually it's very good.
Done a fair bit of comparison and had several younger pairs of ears listen too.
Spotify vs Quobuz..
Some comparisons of the same tracks show what must be a different approach in compiling, encoding or presenting the stream - that's all I can account for the difference in sound I get.
Whilst others clearly demonstrate a better order, calmness and resolve to what's being presented!
It's perhaps easy to jump to the conclusion that this is due to the higher res, be it 16/44 Flac or 24/whatever..
But some things are preferable on Spotify.. But not many!
Spotify offers a more grainy playback on some tracks, a less defined or deep bass on some and on others a more bassy representation..
Is Quobuz worth the extra approx £324 a year in subscriptions over the Spotify service we need anyway for 5 members of the family / Sonos / Echo's / phones etc? That remains to be seen.. I don't see how it could possibly replace Spotify for us at the moment..?
Quobuz may end up being something I sub to for a month or two here and there / as a treat or when I feel to the need to open the taps on my playback experience and get a lift or boost. A bit like an ebike does for you when a hill looms or the head wind blows harder..
Or it may just be something I pay for cos I can, and it's only like buying 1 expensive Vinyl disc a month or a couple of CDs or so.. Charity shops / ebuy aside.
I am finding quite a few things missing in the catalogue. I end up using Spotify to cover those and requests from visitors anyway to it's not a complete solution yet.
Resorted to NAS drive FLAC last night for a visitor request of My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges, Touch Me I'm Going To Scream
Time will tell!
