As long as you save in the current .docx format or the Open Office .odf format you should be fine. Remember Office 365 will be continually updated so whenever you save a document just bring it up to the latest format possible.

I wonder about the docs you don't use for a long time and find some sort of compatibility problem when you want to use them months or years later

You can read back a fair old way in old doc formats, especially if you enable them in the Office Trust Center.
Not so long ago I had to read an old Powerpoint 4 presentation of mine. Now that took a little work as I had to bring it up to current level in two stages. Worked, though, and necessary for my CITP interview.

Sounds doable then
I bet most would give up unless they knew what they were doing or were prepared to find out

Getting back on track...
Build 10049 seems good and stable so far, on both desktop and tablet. The Spartan browser is already excellent and there are little touches and improvements everywhere. Even Cortana works but it's confusing when both the PC and my phone answer to "Hey Cortana" simultaneously!

No, it's true, but I don't see it as scaremongering? It will simply offer users an upgrade to W10 at some point in the future when triggered.

OK, but will the "free" upgrade to Windows 10 be free full stop, or will there be "costs" at a later date ?

Microsoft have said it'll free, but frankly I don't even see why it should be. People should pay for software just like for any other product.

Of course, they have been changing their sales model since W8.
