It was many years ago I think for you a bit fiddly to be honest. It not as nice as a software to use as what you have. However I found it stable

I used it years ago for the Logitech Touch.
You've been speaking to Martin of Audiostore, I think? He enthused about it to me and I tried it momentarily with the Rendu to see what it's like. It worked, but I found the interface truly awful (there was no difference in sound quality). Back to Bubble, which with DLNA is superb.

Same as the others Mike, used it years ago when I had a Squeezebox Touch, a bit fiddly then but apparently it's better now. A lot say LMS is a good poor man's Roon.
Can't really help anymore other than to say it's good software or was then, I know many people swear by it, Stratmangler if you remember him, is a big fan.

I use it daily, Transporter on main system, Touch in pc room and Pi running PiCorePlayer in the summer house all running off a Pi4 with Logitech Media Server installed. I use it for my own files, Spotify, Tidal, Bandcamp, Radio Paradise, and a dozen other radio stations. LMS is still fully supported by ex Logitech staff and are great to deal with on their Forum. In fact I'm outside listening to the summer house system right now. Sorry for the crappy image, Tapatalk only allows 200x500 pix unless you want a desktop busting image.

I never moved away from it. I'm still using it and it continues to function flawlessly.

Mike, if you're thinking of trying to drive your Bluesound Node with LMS, just fugeddaboutit! The Bluesound stuff needs Bluos to drive it.
Roon would probably see the Bluesound thingy as an endpoint, but the Roon guys want serious money for the privilege.

If you already have BluOs then I wouldn't bother with LMS

And, as I've said before, if you already have DLNA you shouldn't bother with LMS either.

If you didn't enjoy configuring Volumio or a Raspberry Pi Mike, I'm fairly confident LMS won't be something you'll take to. BluOs isn't perfect, but what is? Roon gets the closest for simplicity and intuitive useability, but and quite rightly so, you have to pay for that, it's sophisticated and highly developed software. But it's not going to make your Bluesound sound any better, nor is LMS if you're just streaming. I'm not quite sure what you're aiming at, as it's a bit like keeping plates spinning, but if you want to know the answers I personally feel the only solution is to try them out. But if you're using a Bluesound, you need BluOs. Also, a Bluesound doesn't do DLNA/UPnP, its a closed eco system and they only use SMB, not unless they recently changed that?

I'm thinking up the next streamer I get
BluOS seems pretty good and I wouldn't want to interfere and mess it up

Well if you want something that's easy to use, very compatible and sounds great, get a Roon and Qobuz subscription buy an Allo DigiOne Signature and slap that on your Pi with any of the software that Roon will see it as an end point and attach to your TAD, or buy a Sonore rendu of some description and Bob's your uncle. You'll see a significant improvement there. Or just throw huge amounts of money at it for a one box high end streaming appliance. I think this might take a loooooong time though

I'm thinking up the next streamer I get BluOS seems pretty good and I wouldn't want to interfere and mess it up Streamers are all about the software, if you like your Bluesound then it can be upgraded by changing the psu. I'm not keen on spending £1000s on streamers as you're reliant on the manufacturer supporting it and that can be fraught with crappy Firmware updates and then killing it off in favour of a new model. That's why I like LMS because it's not manufacturer reliant, Joe Bloggs can keep it running even if music services change things at their end which they do regularly.

It's a shame the DIY aspect isn't something you're keen on Mike, as mikeyb is right about the support aspect and the costs involved. You would get help I have no doubt

I have the Cocktail Audio Pro X100 which runs the Squeezebox Server. I am generally happy with the Squeezebox and run the Squeezer client on my android phone and SqueezePad on the iPad. The X100 is a combination of streamer, cd ripper and NAS for my music collection. On the software side it has Roon support and can run other server software too. Squeezebox worked for me and has a Qobuz plugin so I stuck with that.
