Cheers Martin. I guess there's no substitute for experience, perhaps I'll hear a pair someday, I must say the s3 model interests me.
Hi Frank, that would be great to hear a second opinion, extra useful since I use the UBs too.
Its funny seeing everyone cold and I was sat out topless a couple of weeks ago, I must have looked fresh off the boat to them lol!

Let's see if my experience with the SLIC speaker cable matches yours Martin. That will be interesting, Frank, as I'm more than ever of the opinion that power amp / cables / speakers form a symbiotic relationship so that a cable's performance in a given system is not easily predictable except on the roughest performance scale.

Dave..... please let us know what you think of the SLIC speaker cable once you receive them... I THINK I am next after you with them..... but I'm on hols for a couple of weeks so after then would be great to get them... I've had Ultra Blacks in my system and I THINK I can remember what they were like so the SLIC will be interesting to listen to... I don't automatically think that because that SLIC interconnect is so fantastic that the speaker cable will be the same though... Hope you give your thoughts soon Dave...cheers....!!

Not received them yet Martin so can't give an opinion either way. I will check tomorrow morning that they were collected on Friday, Frank. Couriers are never very reliable

Which speaker cables are you using currently, Bev?

Which speaker cables are you using currently, Bev? I believe that Bev has the TQ Blacks, according to her AoS signature. I owned the Blacks for a short while a couple of years ago and I found them a bit too smooth for my tastes, so I reverted back to the Blues which to me have a livelier presentation.

Yes, I tried the Blacks momentarily and thought them ok and the Greens which I really didn't like (they gave a kind of pipe 'n slippers warm tilt to everything). The Ultra Blacks are something else completely.

Here....Why don't you play with this while you're waiting for the popcorn, while you're waiting for the review? I recommend you engage the Manic Mode.

I daren't ask how much these bits of esoterica might cost, but I believe the interconnects were a bargain £500 per metre. I do hope you folk have short cable runs or a very wealthy fairy godmother. I have just picked up a pair of esl 63's for the price of one metre of SLIC ic cable. They will sound gorgeous with £20 of qed 79, although i'll probably treat them to something a little better. Assuming you can get away with 1m lengths which speakers are you going to pick up for £20 for the bake off?

Not received them yet Martin so can't give an opinion either way. Sorry Frank, it turns out that the poxy courier company (Yodel) failed to collect them. They are now re-booked to collect them this morning.
Courier companies are a shower, the lot of them

A friend of mine works for Yodal and he suggests avoiding them like the plague. Their computers regularly break down and it causes massive upheavals.

The best overnight guys around are the least worst. The whole industry is not clever
Our guys subcontract the less local stuff, but they keep a watch on it

The thing is, I use couriers ad-hoc, mostly when I sell stuff, so I can't use contract couriers. I use Parcel2Go, but you are in the hands of the real couriers and if I select a top service it eats into the meagre profit I make from the sale (after the extortionate eBay and PayPal charges).
