I was scratching my head and thinking that you had become Mike (who only likes black equipment).

I was scratching my head and thinking that you had become Mike (who only likes black equipment). I shall apply black with Photoshop everywhere. Begone bits of black card ! Or maybe similar to the meditation in Shogun where our hero meditated for the rock to grow - I shall meditate on non black kit to go black. With focus and the power of positive thinking you never know ......... not forgetting an addled mind of course

I'm now listening to the SLIC single-ended cable with vinyl and will report fully on it soon. Not trying to be mysterious, just trying to get a full handle on it. Let's just say that I like what it's doing.

I've had a few upgrades like that recently.
Need to adjust normality to work out what is going on

Sometimes you need a break from listening. When you return to it the differences are clearer.

The other advantage of short sessions. I found with the long ones I got tired enough that I lost interest and was sometimes confused. Nice to establish a base line, make a few changes and get used to normality before going further in a later session.
And of course take time to enjoy the music ! That often takes over my comparing sessions

Also - making only one change at a time.

Oh yes. We have the same MO there.
I like hearing the improvements in the music as I go along with the odd stick and reevaluate if not the case

Come on then tell us all what you think of the new SLIC speaker cable
The sooner you finish with them the sooner I can get a listen of them. Mind you I'm away on hols soon so it may have to wait until I get back

First: the single-ended cable. Interestingly, I found it much closer to the Yannis than I had found the balanced versions. It's usually the other way round for hearing cable differences, but I can only report on what I hear. However, essentially the same sense of greater detail, quieter but more dynamic, abilities that I've already heard. It does improve on the Yannis by a sufficient (small) margin that I shall keep it.
I finally got the speaker cables connected up last night. On listening to them (and no idea if they've been burned in), they sound good but on the same level as my current TQ Ultra Black and NVA LS7 that I tried some time ago, the two best cables I've had in my system. I could not say that the SLIC eased ahead in any particular way, it's very slightly different but hard to put my finger on it. The key attributes are smooth with exceptional fine detail, no harshness, great micro- and macro-dynamics, potent bass. I really need more time to listen to them and shall have another chance tonight. It's fair to say that they are excellent cables together with TQ UB and LS7. I cannot speak of value as I don't know their price.
I'll pack them up and return them soon, I just need some more time with them.

Further listening last night has convinced me that the SLIC speaker cable does not quite perform to the level of the TQs (and therefore the LS7) in my system. It's good, but not quite there for natural soundstage. I'll unhook it tonight and send it on to whomever is next on the rota.
Sorry if this sounds like a spoiler but I will always report as I find. You may well find it completely different in your system.

Interesting feedback on the speaker cable Martin, I'm interested in your opinion as I have the same slic cables and tqs as you (similarities in system end there though).
So you didn't note a synergy between the slics... I'm interested in trying a whole system loom one day. Has anyone tried that here? Don't know if its marketing be or there's some sense in it.

No, the SLIC speaker cables do not have the same attributes as the interconnects, at least in my system.
The loaners have now been despatched to Frank (fm).

Hello Dave mate.
Oz is brilliant, apart from it being winter right now (sucks enduring England's then coming here for one) but its a lot milder here.
Gear still not here, but the ship docked today so t-minus two weeks hopefully. Assuming it all got here in one piece that is. How are things with you?
Is that your personal record player in your sig? Looks like a tank!

Martin, your honesty is appreciated. Ever tried a pass amp in your system? And what did you make of the Magicos you heard a while back?

Martin, your honesty is appreciated. Ever tried a pass amp in your system? And what did you make of the Magicos you heard a while back? I've never tried a Pass power amp because a) they are mostly heavily class A/AB and so generate too much heat and b) my Chord works extremely well and has beaten all-comers so far.
The Magicos? Hmm, well they certainly had detail and transparency; and a good frequency response; and dynamics. The trouble is, I didn't really hear them make music. I'm not sure whether it was them or the Constellation amps, but the sum was less than the parts. Dry, analytical, soulless. When I heard the Wilson Shashas at the same show, they certainly did make music. However, at approaching three times the price of my speakers, I would have to be earning considerably more than I do to even think about them.

Let's see if my experience with the SLIC speaker cable matches yours Martin. I have also got the TQ Ultra Blacks to compare them with too. My apologies as well for not participating more on the forum but been so busy with my new job which has me doing crazy things at crazy hours of late, plus looking after a friend's house while he is away. Every night this week been feeding the Badgers with all sorts of titbits that comes into their garden each night, which I don't agree with doing during the summer months when their natural food is abundant, but honour bound to do it.

Nice to get an update from you Martin Oz winters sure are a lot milder than here. I went to Perth in August and the locals were wearing jumpers and coats, yet I was walking round in T shirts. First day of Spring and they forsake all the jumpers and coats and head for the beach
