'Value for money' is such a weird concept anyway. Something is 'worth' whatever someone wants to pay for it, even if that someone is in a minority of one. Not that many years ago, BBC-type speakers made by the likes of Rogers, Goodmans etc could be picked up for very few pounds. Then they became fashionable, particularly in the Far East, and the prices rocketed. The speakers themselves are the same, they have depreciated further from new condition, and yet the price has gone up. So what are they actually 'worth'?
As far as cables go, the only way of knowing whether a £500 cable is 'worth' the price premium over a £20 cable is to compare the two in your own system, and make the judgement for yourself, being neither persuaded nor dissuaded by the opinions of others on either their intrinsic qualities, value for money, or whether their price can be justified ethically (the 'starving children' argument).

While discussion of politics isn't completely ruled out, I think it would be safe to say that it is to be discouraged as it almost always leads to unpleasantness. While we're in the mode of encouraging a little self-moderation, I'd respectfully suggest that a little less worship at the altar of your own intellect wouldn't go amiss either. I'm not sure that such things are actually illegal in many countries, but it is most certainly something that should be considered.

Aw , come on , if you aint gonna name me I am going to pretend the above is aimed at some else

Nice try, DQ. However, the section I removed was not just 'stating facts'

I'd love to know how the SLIC "measures" up against the MC5000.

I don't want it actually measured, hence the speech marks. I would be interested to know how it compares - A close to £500 cable compared to a £40 cable (I am being generous with the £40).

Dave , despite your posts always being serious and literal , I am aware you have a sense of humour { krell for sale with original dust} and you would therefore be fully aware I was being sarcastic and the mere suggestion of there being a 100% correlation between the measurements that can be taken from a piece of a copper and its sound quality is profoundly suspect .
Should you disagree , I would most pleased for you to spell out these respective measurements .
