What improvements did you make Martin ? See my Blog here, Brian. Essentially a reworking of my mains power cables, especially the main feed into the regenerator.

Interesting Martin . The mains cables look like monsters . Are you still using the RDC cones ?

spoilt a bit by Pip 2 blowing one of my ESL63's and being quarantined, How did that happen ? It may not have done. I was just in a flap to leave and the Pip went unstable a couple of times. Usual bloody intermittent fault - would play fine for 2 hours, and then just as you thought you were delusional would f*&^ about only to behave good as gold on the bench. The ESL 63 went open circuit during this, but given pip is AC coupled, the 405-2 is AC coupled, both the 405 and the 63 have protection circuitry, it could well just be another really irritating coincidence. No time to investigate, and taking no chances. Next year I will be better prepared!!

And thanks losenotaminute for the awesome precis. Yes cables are a source of fun - Cagey has a tough nut to crack tomorrow. I should warn him AK has had no joy, and some of his cables are so good they are £1700 a metre. I'm afraid it fell on stoney ground, although I am assured the failing is all mine, and others with an appreciation of the finer things in life can get quite ecstatic about the whole shenanigans. On vera!

I have very limited amounts of both. Of the 3rd essential - time - I had even less. Fortunately I have a good friend with all 3 elements I can take it to when I get back.

Cagey is about to try to persuade me tomorrow I should get excited about cables. Our plans have been spoilt a bit by Pip 2 blowing one of my ESL63's and being quarantined, so I am out here with the DIN only Pip 1. But I have a feeling he will be so excited by Pip he will rather wonder whether he can be bothered with bits of wire. Its not that they make no difference - just not that sort of difference. A demain as they say in these parts I think you misunderstand me. I am excited about being able to wire up my system with cables that allow my system to sound good, for less than the price of a glossy packaged stereo pair. At €3/m, it sounds pretty good.

Anyway, looking forwards to the visit tomorrow as I am intrigued to see how a PIP compares to my Reflex M. Bonne route.

Excess exists in every sphere, be it gold plated mobile phones, carbon fibre fishing rods, ditto bicycles, the salaries that footballers are paid, or interconnects.
