I'm not wanting to sidetrack the thread, and I'm not trying to be a dick(I've simply never heard cables at this price) but I just can't/don't see a worthwhile price to improvement ratio!! I'm not knocking anyone's personal choice here either - it's your hard earned cash - but do you REALLY hear a difference or are you a - kidding yourself in order to justify the spend b - buying them and spending loads to "look big" c - just got nowt better to blow a few quid on?
My personal viewpoint is buy decent speaker cable(I've used Supra, cable talk and studio spares recently) and spend a bit more on other stuff. Food, music, drink maybe?
One of the biggest things about joining a forum, for me,is to get to hear a bit more kit and,as such, hopefully I will become a bit better informed. Still not sold though!

For most people cables that expensive are going to be out of most peoples reach Chris but for those that can afford them it might be a really important part in getting the best out of their system. I personally think its more important to address issues like clean power, speaker/room matching and understanding the sound you searching for. Yes the best advice is to hear as much kit as you can with music you know well, bring in a few poor recordings too You have some of the so called Scottish Mafia here people like Ali who have great systems; get to hear them

One of the biggest things about joining a forum, for me,is to get to hear a bit more kit and,as such, hopefully I will become a bit better informed. Still not sold though! I've been a cable sceptic for a long long time. i was sitting in front of a ludicrously expensive Krell/Wilson system and the salesman kept changing interconnects and saying things like "wow, how can a bit of wire make SOOOOO much difference huh?" All I could hear was a miniscule change in balance that could have been more easily achieved by moving the speakers 6" (mind you with the Wilson speakers - not so easy) . I have never heard a piece of wire that could increase my musical enjoyment in any system that I have had. However, I have no problem at all with others spending to get that .001% difference. Its a matter of perspective. When I had a disposable income in the £1000's per month (as opposed to the -£1000's per year now ) I thought nothing of just buying another classic Alfa if I saw it. Didn't need it, I just indulged because I could. If the buyers of these cables genuinely believe the effects then there is no problem. It doesn't actually matter if the effect is real or not if it is to them. Its the 'night and day' brigade that I would never believe although they too are more than entitled to their opinion. I just wish I could still indulge to that degree now. At least I experienced it.

In my experience, the only way it's possible to achieve a 'night and day difference' with hi-fi is to A-B test the differing effects exhibited by engaging and disengaging the power switch! Anything else is a gross exaggeration, or worse.

I'm glad that all these responses have been measured and I appreciate them all. I know how so called cable threads can go!!
Looking forward to my day out with eduardowobblechops - think it's going to be highly enlightening!

I have lost the plot now ! Sometimes I think I have, too!
Current system cables
Interconnects: Yannis 223.5 (PhonoLitz single-ended tonearm, ConnectLitz single-ended phono preamp to preamp, all others ConnectLitz balanced). Speaker: Tellurium Q Ultra Black Umbilical: Revelation Audio Passage silver for Pass XP-20 power supply Power: main feed to regenerator Furukawa 2.6 (but I have on trial a Coherent 6D, which I will probably buy), power amp MCRU Ultimate, all others MCRU No. 9
As Chris says, there is no night-and-day change with cables unless there is something seriously amiss with your system. However, the 6D is quite strikingly outperforming the Furukawa 2.6 at the moment.

This is a link to the 4D, the 6D is not mentioned in their website (probably needs updating). TonyC is hereabouts if you want to ask him about it directly.

I can't tell you much: it's very thick, silvery coloured in a clear sheaf and braided.

Tony came to my place to do a demo once, he plugged about 6k worth of power leads and interconnects into my system and the difference was impressive.
I wont jump into superlatives but it made me sad i couldn't buy them there and then tbh. Id love to hear them in my current system. Maybe if i get success with my interview on Friday (fingers crossed!).

Martin I've had two notifications that this threads updated and when I've checked there are no new posts, do you know why that is?
Potentially someone posting and then deleting?

One thing I really like about ProBoards is that when you press the 'Participated' button and join a thread it takes you to the update posted after the last one you have read. If that post is the final post on the page it is possible to miss subsequent posts on the next page if one isn't looking for them.

I can see that you deleted a post just a few minutes before you asked the question!
