One of the most, if not the most important things in life Mike - we are what we eat.

One of the most, if not the most important things in life Mike - we are what we eat. Agreed. My diet is the best it has ever been as I educate myself, add the good things and remove (rather than knock out !) the bad

And that right there Mike is unfortunately for most what you have to do - our countries food policies have for decades been making us sick, buoyed along by the backhanders, ignorance and corporate influence driven by profit not health. It's unfortunate we seem to have become more and more dependent on industrially produced, highly processed, poor quality, chemically enhanced 'frankenfood' rather than real food.
I find it puzzling that TV cooking shows are extremely popular, yet so many people don't actually cook themselves, which seems a bit of an oxymoron to me

50 years ago what we ate was actually better for you than the muck the majority eats now, so if we got back to eating real food and cooking it ourselves like our grandparents did, then we'd be in much better shape. Which is mostly what Europeans have continued to do, not influenced by corporate America and idiots like Ancel Keys and John Harvey Kellogg.

Whilst meat consumption is reducing we still eat a massive amount of meat when compared with 50 years ago. So much so that we have to industrially farm meat (whilst forgetting they are animals…). Add in ready meals with their bulking agents, sugar (eg donuts etc) - lots of things that used to be treats are eaten every day now by many.

Our home diet seems to have evolved to a back to basics approach. Nearly every meal is home cooked, consisting of small piece of meat or fish with a variety of steamed veg. I don't really aspire to anything more exotic. It's one of the reasons my weight is more stable and keeps blood sugar/ cholesterol down.

Not much better 40 years ago I mean generally, scrabbling around for food items, this is off the top of my head Full fat milk for strong healthy bones Cigarettes are good for your nerves Eat as much meat as you can for health Drink driving is fine No seat belts in cars around then Best cars and motorbikes made in Britain Did everyone eat white bread ? Cross ply tyres

Thanks, Paul. I should have checked it. A stray colon screwed it up and I have deleted that now.

Thanks, Paul. I should have checked it. A stray colon screwed it up and I have deleted that now. All it took was a quick colonoscopy, and you didn't even feel it.

Our last halogen cooker started playing up, and since I couldn't figure out how to get to the electronics and electrical wiring I decided to get an air fryer. It's a Cosori 12L, and has already replaced the oven in less than a week of use. My only gripe for now is that air fryers aren't great with vegetables. I can do a far better job on gas in less than the 10 to 15 minutes as recommended by the cooking instructions and Youtube examples. Many examples of roast chicken on the web, but if you like roast duck, the rotisserie facility when available is the thing to try. My wife's effort went down well at Easter. Another thing we like is beef ribs. Horrendously expensive now at Costco, but I have been told that Tesco sells them as well, and cheaper. The air fryer did them justice.

It's actually smaller than the halogen cooker that we had. So there was no struggle to find a space for it.
