I think I'm going to need to rethink my kitchen. The oven arrived this morning - a day early - and it's a bit bigger than I anticipated. Spring Winter cleaning is called for, big-time, cupboards to be reorganised too.

Yep, that's the one I got herself, even I can work it and it's easy to clean, discovering new ways to use all the time. Baked tatties are good and so much quicker than thee oven.

Quicker still if you give them 7 minutes or so in the microwave first. In fact, 7 mins in the microwave (make sure you've pricked the spuds all over with a fork). Rub them with oil and salt (and anything else you fancy; smoked paprika's good, or just plain black pepper). Then finish them off in the air fryer. They should take around 7 minutes again, but obviously it's dependent on the size of your spuds (Ooooh, Matron.). Test them with a fork, and if it goes in halfway with no resistance to speak of (Pardon, Vicar?), they're done, and the skins should be lovely and crispy too.

Can you use an air fryer to steam things or give that sort of effect ?
Could I put spuds, broccoli, carrots and leeks in one drawer and a burger type item in another ? (Assume not all together)

No Mike, you definitely can't steam in an air fryer - it's a very dry heat.

...but you should try your veg air-fried. Just spray a small amount of olive oil. Delicious.

Only get a dual fryer if you need one. It should be just big enough for the job, to keep running costs down.

What thoughts ? Have you actually tried much food cooked in an air fryer Mike?
I really wanted to buy one but some friends beat me too it. They bought a small one first, then before actually using it too much, bought a much larger dual zone one and it was flavour of the month for awhile - I went down there 2 weeks ago and both are now sat in the garage.
Before this they cooked me many different things in the air fryer and I really wasn't impressed, but I am a fussy (traditional) cook. Based on eating quite a few meals by them cooked in an air fryer I decided not to buy one. That's not to say you won't love one and use it regularly, but to me they're another gadget destined for the back of the cupboard. They bought them primarily to save money cooking, but I'm wondering how close they got to ever recouping the cost of buying them, now that they lie idle.
Just a cautionary tale really, but YMMV depending on your needs. I also agree with MartinT, don't go too big right from the offset with a fancy one. They cost more to buy, cost more to run and take up more counter space.

I use mine quite a lot. As with the hot water dispenser, it seemed to make sense, and it can also be healthier. My latest experiment - trying Ostrich steaks - worked out quite nicely. Normally, I'd have slapped them on my (also healthy) Cuisinart electric griddle, but I gave the air fryer a go, and it worked out nicely. Rubbed them with Avocado oil, then salt and pepper, and they came out melt-in-the-mouth tender. www.amazon.co.uk/Ninja-AF100UK-Fryer-Plastic-liters/dp/B07PBBW4XF/

I think they're a great idea if you use them and like how they cook . . . maybe my friends cooking skills were the problem and not the air fryer!

Ease of use, cleanliness and taste. Yours is the first dissenting voice As a cook I make a good cyclist Bung it in, put on the timer and wait for the beeper Experimentation as time goes on

Dual is what Sister in law insists on I can't see the benefit unless you have a big family. I bung burger, chips, onion all into the basket together, for instance. Or chicken and vegetables, etc.

Bung it in, put on the timer and wait for the beeper Experimentation as time goes on That sounds like the sort of cook they are so you'll probably get on with it . . . and I'm a right old fuss arse as a cook, so there's that!
