Yeah, from what I recall a Bluesound goes into standby after 15 minutes of no music being played which also sends a 12V trigger event to power down an amplifier. That annoyed my mate too, so he doesn't use it anymore.

Arguably good idea if you only use the Bluesound as the front end 15 minutes too short for me

My Qobuz sub came to an end.
Just to keep them on their toes, I let it lapse and am trialling Tidal free for a month 🙂
I just like a change sometimes. Plus interested to see if Tidal -> Bubble -> Ultrarendu falls over less often?
Presentation is different. Calmer on some stuff, bit dull on others? To early to say really. I can just turn the volume up on the compression drivers esp the Vitavox S2's and get less calm, anytime I want😂
Didn't fall over in a whole evening of listening - will tomorrow no doubt.
When Tidal lapses I will get a free Qobuz trial. Surf the freebies! - how many different emails can you register?

Power Supplies for the Bluesound
A great deal of variety
Internal PSU, with a Figure 8 socket for a power cable
Internal board with a DC socket and buy a PSU, from Zero Zone prices up to crazy prices
At what point does it make more sense to upgrade to a new streamer ?
Suggestions please

My understanding is its a good internal board so worth the upgrade If me I get Tony to do this as he has experience with this upgrade Seems to be plenty of options
Gives a idea what to expect

I would say it doesn't make sense to spend any more money on the streamer unless you are using it with a decent source eg Spoti Premium, Qobuz ... Until you do, you won't know what the unit is capable of.

Until you do, you won't know what the unit is capable of. 100% agree . . . if you are wanting to upgrade a Bluesound there are really only two cost effective paths IMO; A better DAC - nothing wrong with the onboard, but there are gains to be had by using SPDIF out of the Node into a dedicated DAC, but you'd need to be spending the same or more than the Bluesound cost to get such an improvement. Get another streamer like a WiiM Pro and a good DAC. I personally think trying to improve the power supply for a Bluesound would involve cost that could be better spent elsewhere, but the Bluesound is really good if you use it with something like Tidal or Qobuz or even Spotify. I reckon you are overthinking it Mike

Mike already has a good DAC. What he doesn't have is a bloody subscription

Semi idle thoughts and I know this is the cart before the horse, probably
The internal way must be the cheapest upgrade but how much does the external do for the sound quality in comparison ?

In answer to your question, I don't know the Bluesound but in general I have found there are good rewards for upgrading the power supply of anything with an SMPS rather than a linear PSU. However, why don't you sign up to a trial Qobuz account and listen to how it sounds right now, without any mods, feeding your DAC? That will give you a great baseline for whatever upgrades you later perform.

Is the Bluesound connected to the TAD at present?

Why indeed ? answering MartinTNever been in a rush and the album playlist of CDs is still going strong but the queue into it is shrinking quickly so streaming gets closer. Bluesound and Spotty work pretty well. What I prefer so much more is the playing a CD. Not for the touch or the physical media element, it is the ease or perceived ease of use My download of BubbleUpnp was supposed to be a step in that direction but that was beyond me

Probably an obvious question, but I'm really not sure, so I'll ask it anyway . . . . what did you buy the Bluesound for Mike?

If you not using the Bluesound with a decent subscription like Qobuz or similar then no real point in upgrading in fact I would think about giving up on streaming Streaming for me is about ease of use, discovering lots of music and if you prepared to put the work it can give you decent sounds. But it's not for everyone.
