I thought we as a forum should acknowledge the passing of our Queen of 70 years in power, and possibly the passing forever of the Monarchy as we know it.
I am no royalist and am not the one to express deep mourning, I will leave that to others to do. However, she has ruled for my entire life and that of most of you here, so things will change for everyone in some ways. It is, without a doubt, the passing of an era.
Let's not forget that she was a wife, a mother and a grandmother to her close ones, too.

Personally I am most upset by this news.
She was simply the greatest Monarch this country has ever seen, and her contribution to our society cannot be overstated.
It was the most wonderful and special privilege to have served as one of her Choristers as a boy, and I will never forget those special state occasions at which she was present.

All I knew about her was what has been written. She knew nothing about me. We never met. She never even asked me to play my guitar on her roof, unlike some suck-ups I know. Yes, May, I'm looking at you, sir. You certainly knew how to name a band, didn't you?
I have no really strong feelings, either positive or negative towards her. I am sad that another old person has died, but she had a far better life than the many old people who have gone before her, and those who will come after her this winter. Her vast personal fortune (£365 million according to this year's Times Rich List) will now pass to King Charles III. Inheritance from a sovereign to sovereign is exempt from the 40% inheritance tax, as was agreed with the former Prime Minister John Major in 1993 to avoid erosion of the Royal Family’s wealth.
God Save The King. God help the country.

A bit touching and moving imo how this news has effected some people around the world. I've just read of her service during WW2.
"At the age of 19, Princess Elizabeth joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS). After joining, she trained as a driver and mechanic with the rank of Second Subaltern. Five months later she was promoted to Junior Commander, which was the equivalent of Captain."

Some very fine and touching tributes to ‘Elizabeth the Great' in the Commons today.
Both Keir Starmer and Boris Johnson speaking with sincerity and conviction, with some great reminiscences from BJ. Harriet Harman’s tribute rightly including reference to the Queen's role model as a woman and a laugh out loud moment when HH mentioned getting the sack before being invited to tea by the Queen. Theresa May surprising us all by displaying some immaculate comic timing on several occasions, peppering her tribute with humorous anecdotes including saying that her weekly meeting with the Queen was the one confidential meeting which couldn’t be briefed out to the Media …
Then the immaculately choreographed ceremonial ‘Death Gun Salute’ in which one round was fired every 10 seconds from guns all over Britain and Gibraltar - 96 rounds in total, one for each year in her life. Amazing historic scenes of the huge crowds in the sunshine at Buck Palace there to greet King Charles and what a job for him when he arrived, shaking as many hands as possible. I think he is starting as he means to go on, and no surprise at that.

Theresa May, like several other politicians (Gordon Brown springs to mind), seems to do a lot better when not under so much pressure. She's able to revert to her own, natural, personality.

How wonderful to hear the fine choir at St Paul's this evening and some beautifully performed church music with the incredible acoustic there, which made the bagpipes even more impressive. The organ is a quite superb instrument too, doing some seriously powerful duty in the lower registers. The first time God Save the King will have been sung there for many years and the first time most of us will have heard it. All change.

The boss noticed HM had a big bruise on her hand
I surmise from that she had a needle or two in there, maybe intravenous supply of drugs or food. She hung on to see Fatberg and Truss as it was her duty Medical advice probably recommended not to do it

She had a good innings, Mike, doing her duty until the end. You have to give her respect for that.

When Duke Ellington Made a Record for Just One Person – Queen Elizabeth 1959, and without any desire to make money. Or even generating publicity from the incident—which took place in secret, without fanfare or press releases. In this instance, he created a unique album solely for the pleasure of giving it to Queen Elizabeth. With the help of Billy Strayhorn, he composed The Queen’s Suite, had one record manufactured—and sent it directly to Buckingham Palace, solely intended for Her Majesty’s ears.
