watching Matt Hancock on celebrity...not sure what was worse 🤣 I'd rather spend the night in a morgue than watch him and those two gurning morons. I'II send the Intona direct to yourself then ....Hee He
Just checked using my USB CD writer, the Intona is working okay. That leaves the USB lead, or the R26 XMOS dosen't want to play ball.
Will report back shortly

Houston we have contact.. So firstly, l managed to get the Intona to handshake.. Yippee, in this instance, the Intona didn't like my Black Magic USB cable, l simply just used a bog standard 1.8 metre l had kicking around.
So what does it sound like, a case of two steps forward, three steps back. Straight away, midrange and lower end and more accuracy, more relaxed, notes stopped faster, however, the upper mids and high frequency, where what l can only describe at rolled, and lacking air. It only took me a bit of time, and l went back to going direct to the R26, and the air of the missing elements returned. This is a difficult one, could it be the crappie USB lead robbing the Intona of the high frequencies? l don't really want to go down the USB rabbit hole, just based on compatibility, testing loads of cables again, when l already have a great sounding cable. So after going back to my normal setup, l thought l try the Intona on my Seagate 8tb external Hard Drive, you guess correct, it won't handshake..what frustrating device. l guess if l had a laptop direct into a DAC, and was only discovering Hi Fi for the first,it would be ideal.
Next up, the cheap 11.11 clock, l must love it!
It's the Leaf Audio CMD 17 XMOS XU208, with Twin CRYSTEK 957 Femto crystals, you can also power it independently, l've read mixed reviews, from being superb to just okay,so we will have to wait and see.

Damien, you may be doing some or all of this already, but since you are using a Windows server solution, I got this from a very good contributor (jgwtriode) on the Head-Fi forum.

Thanks Martin, l run Fidilizer and Process Lasso. With Majiority Clean it seems to be a endless rabbit hole, different presentations. I haven't bothered with AO,yet, tbh the two programs l run make vast difference.
Once l've got this out of my system, l May have a play with Volumio 3 OS. My setup needs are pretty basic.
Going to revist running the SATA cable again tonight. Also had another Zero Zone PSU turn up.
Will update later

Volumio is the work of the Devil himself.
Only install after four uninterrupted hours of self-flagellation in sack-cloth whilst saying Hail Mary etc and having checked you are fully insured due to loss of mental faculties having been fked over by Volumio.

I can't fault SonicOrbiter OS for the Rendu series streamers. Perfect stability and performance.

l see ...Volumio is like saying l'm a Matt Hancock friend. Hee He
On to some very positive news. Thanks to Mike, l revisited running my main OS SSD outside the PC. l ditched adapters connectors and the Silverstone SATA cable, and used the only lead that could be used, a £2.99p male female cable cable, l simply added some copper sheild tape, then some insulation tape..really basic. I fired the PC up, and I'll be honest,my jaw hit the ground, no more rolled high frequencies, wider soundstage yada yada. So, l reluctantly power the PC down. l been meaning to clear up all the wiring and placement of units, also because l wanted to swap out a 5v and 12v ifi psu,and fire up my replacement Zero Zone 01 units. Yet another lift in performance, lower noise floor, and better dynamics, the 5v is for the SATA SSD OS drive, the 12v is for my Seagate 8tb external Hard Drive, the ifi actually did improve levels over standard psu,but the Zero Zones are in a different league.
So today is a great day for myself, l can safely say,my new PC beasts my old i7, there's no going back now.
l am at the point where the sound is close to what the Audio GD brings, it's just missing the accuracy you get with a DDC, and l can't believe, this is out of a standard USB socket, it really does show you, what a impact a clean psu makes, and really can't stress the impact that moving your hard drive out of the case makes.
These are the days l work towards...Today has been a great day.

Great news on the Leaf Audio device...Firstly its works straight out of the box with l2s, and seems to work with my preferred Belden cable. Really impressed, everything up a notch, that accuracy, placement, excellent for little outlay. Crazy thing,l swapped out from running the power via PC USB psu, to the ifi psu, and sound wasn't as good, which is a first for myself, perhaps a design floor, anyway,l'm not complaining. I'll have test it on the Zero Zone 01, but my guess is that it's part of it's design. Other minor points, the left and right channels seems to be the wrong way around, not the end of the world, just swap my leads over. Overall this is a incredible bargain, that has now totally exceeded what l set out to do. Improve my PC up to Streamer standards, on a budget...Mission completed.
Don't worry...I can only sit still for a bit..lol

Well done Damien, I admire your patience and tenacity with this stuff. l have to thank the TAS Forum Jules, specially Tony, as he pushed me down the correct Rabbit Holes. Think l'll take a bit of a breather now, before l re-enter the world of Volumio etc Still a few things to play with via the Leaf Audio, l really like l2s, l can happily live with it, then, give it a week or so, l'll try Coax input, which apparently goes up to 192khz. Look forward to your views on your new Amp Jules!

So after mentioning Nuclear option Volumio, l spent a bit of time looking into alternatives. And after reading so much negative views, l going to shelf the thought.
So l will be testing MoOde instead, seems to offer quality and be reliable, also has PEQ. Any thoughts chaps?

Personally I had no issues in recent times with Volumio until I switched to the Rendu streamers.
Quite nice interface, quite nice sound quality, easy to use. Rendus give you much more, but that's partly because you are not hampered with Pi-based hardware.

Thanks Martin, l guess l'll just need to play. I presume your talking about generic internal hardware like Wi Fi cards inside a Raspberry and NUC ?
l guessing running something like Moode or Volumio should in theory, bring a upgrade compared to Windows?
