Good to hear the patch cable was a success Damien,I will order mine tomorrow. Yes good news indeed.... However I am more boiled over by the sound quality of the R26 using LAN and FMC LAN was a game changer for me, I was already using FMC so can’t really comment on the impact of switching to both of them at a similar time…I can believe it will have been huge!

So things have been a bit quiet...Which is unusual for myself. Quite simply, and as l mentioned already, since l have added FMC ,and then finally got my R26 to act as DNLA, l have never been happier.
The next step, for myself is a natural progression, add a set FMC for my NUC Server. l am glad to report that it seems to be a further worthwhile improvement, that brings more of the FMC benefits, lower noise floor, soundstage that's on certain recordings are incredible, details and the kitchen sink 🤣
What is really impressive is accompany acoustic guitar, within mixes, this is the type of thing are can merge with the soundstage, not so now, they spring out of the mix, with those small production that often can get lost.
Heavens knows what's next, possibly more focus on another earth box.

It's so satisfying when that happens. I am convinced that DLNA is a very efficient and good sounding control protocol, especially when combined with BubbleUPnP. Fibre, too, contributes greatly to making digital sound like analogue in good ways.

l can't believe it's nearly a month since my last entry. That's a good sign l am happy with things. l swapped out my Finisar SMF cables for Cisco cables, and so far so good, l am still bedding them in,overall they bring a small but noticeable improvement and difference, deeper bass, and a less colder and harder mid-range, subtle l guess.
Of course, l have had other things cooking, and l have to admit to a bit of moon lighting on the Headfi forum. l have been PMing back to a nice chap,I'm regards to moving the R26 transformers completely out of there enclosures, this is something he has been playing with for a bit, and so far he was reported a uplift in sound quality, that is noticeable by moving the transformers out and away from the main board, the basic theory, everything is kind of to close each other, no surprise there. Another really strange effect, the bolts used to clamp the transformers down are metal, but are also slightly magnetic! By chance this was discovered when rehousing the transformers back, from being loose, the bolts seem to have a negative effect on sound, so moving forward, it will be plastic or wooden bolts. ln another discovery, you can remove the cheap voltage selector, and you can connect the secondary whiles together to ditch 110v operation if your in the UK. Again this brings another lift.
l can't vouch for any of the information myself, but l will report back, once my parts arrive.
I also have MartinT tungsten cube to play with, once it arrives. So the outlook is looking good. l could just settle with the R26, and TBH it's the best my setup has ever sounded, but l also realise l like to play with stuff, push things to my own practical limit, and being that this doesn't require the soldering skills and brains of Tony, l feel safe to carry on,and hot rod my R26 further.

All sounding good Damien. I have seen the posts about the transformers replacement and also the voltage selector and I would think the X26pro would also benefit from these same tweaks....looking at Martins tungsten block tweak also Damien....we also have the new LB clock to look forward too ...interesting times ahead.

On the subject of the current LB clock, not sure if there is a seprate post on this, has anyone being playing with the PLL setting at all, can some one try 15 for me please
Moving the trannys and isolating them is recommended as is removing voltage selector (basic point there)
I have rehoused a couple of R26's now with a few other enhancements and update, they get very close to $5K dac now.
As for ther new LB clock it will be good, but be aprised it is a very different beast and is not in the same price bracket.

Ok Tony,My thoughts with LB setting PLL 15, with X26pro... Soundstage bigger,at first I thought system sounded louder/brighter but seconds thoughts is everything is cleaner/sharper , Paul Simons "the boy in the bubble", backing vocals lifted out of the mix more. Main vocals more forward but not over powering what is being produced from R and L speakers... my thoughts, others may differ...I liking pll 15 on my system...
Maybe this post and Tony's above would be better moved to the "Leo Bodnar GPS Precision Clock" thread, sorry Damien

Sorry Tony ...I totally missed your post. Thanks for the tips on the R26, some of it is beyond my skill set, but others are possible.
Not sure what you mean my PLL 15 ? Are you talking about bandwidth? Or phase Shift?

Not tried it yet as things are a little fraught . I think Tony is taking about changing Phase Lock Loop figure in the set up of the LB Clock .

Apologies I do not seem to be able to add images to this site so I can not just post the image that shows the details and were to make the changes . I am also not sure if this is against this board rules but here is a link to a thread Tony has posted that details how to set up the LB and shows were to change the PLL setting . audioaddictsforum.com/thread/2837/leo-bodnar-gps-reference-clock

Aaarg just tried the adjustments that Tony has suggested and for some unknown reason the LB will not find a GPS signal . The red light just keeps flashing red . Will have to take it out of system and connect it to the PC upstairs and see if things will work there . Because we live on a hill and half way down I know from my Tom Tom and mobile that GPS signals are not that great once I can get it locked on in one place it seems to then keep that and no issues .

Okay... That's what l was referring to the BW settings, got confused by PLL settings.
l'll have to revist, but l am pretty sure l preferred 9 as l used to run 15 before that, and l know it's one of the settings you have to reapply once the LB powered down.
