I've just ordered one of these, to arrive on Monday. Does anyone have any experience with them? It was rather more than I intended to pay, but after reading so many reviews of meters that looked good but were, apparently, entirely inaccurate, despite being top-sellers, I figured it was worth the extra. www.accu-chek.co.uk/blood-glucose-meters/mobile

I bought an Accu-chek when I was monitoring blood sugar daily, originally an older model than this and then one very similar. They get you on the consumables of course!

That's exactly the model I have. My hospital gives them out free to diabetics. It's by far the best meter I've had and uses the least amount of blood. It's also reliable. I use mine a lot without problems.

As I'm not going to be testing every day - more like once or twice a week - I thought I'd eat the cost of the consumables and go for simplicity rather than mess about with plugging strips in, and loading, and disposing of, individual lancets. eBay has lancets at around £10 for 204 and "cassettes" are also around a tenner there, with decent expiry dates.

Paul, you can get the test cartridges and lancets on prescription.

Paul, you can get the test cartridges and lancets on prescription. I looked at that, but it's geared towards those with Type 1, as is the free monitor you received. According to Diabetes UK: I'll ask though, next time I'm in contact with the surgery.

I'm a type 2. The hospital didn't bat an eyelid when I asked for a replacement meter. It's the same for injectors.
No, I just use the USB port.

It's one of those great ideas I hope I never need.

Note: it's for Type 1 diabetics. So it is. Sorry. Wasn't paying attention.

I tried some of this stuff tonight. I will be buying more. I bought some yesterday. The sour cherry is seriously yummy. Next is the lemonade.

The lemonade is rather nice too, although not as strongly flavoured as I was, perhaps, expecting. I've got a 24-can case of the Cola arriving on Saturday. [EDIT] I've just ordered a case of the Lemon & Lime too.
