The tournament is progressing nicely. There have been some good matches.
All British players are out (just like old times)!
Men's favourites
Medvedev, Zverev, Nadal,
Outsiders are Sinner, Berettini (both Italian) and Cilic
Women's favourites
Barty (Aus own world no 1) Halep, Sabalenka
Outsiders Mertens, Swiatek
All to play for.
Other news;
Apparently Djok may try to sue the Aus gov over his treatment.. If he does, don't expect him to EVER play there again!
Murray's metal hip is holding up well. He was beaten by a younger better version of himself, Taro Daniel, who was in turn beaten by Sinner - I like Sinner's game!

Zverev out. He just never came to the party today. Shapo played well enough.
Nadal Mannarino'd Mannarino as expected.
Barty managed Anisimova nicely.
Badosa out🙄, she was a bit taped up but Keys was on it right from the off. She's played like that every so often💪👍
I'll be watching young Sinner vs Aussie De Minaur tomorrow morning.

Look like Nadal and Barty are the favourites now?

Look like Nadal and Barty are the favourites now? Barty yes, Nadal has Medvedev (The Octopus 🐙) to contend with. Nadal has been out with a long standing foot injury. He's still short on top level match play. He's gets by against lesser opponents with his intensity. Med has been improving his mind no end in the last couple of years. He destroyed Djok at the US Open.

Alizé Cornet def. Simona Halep. Shock of the day. Simona not quite match fit after a long injury. Alizé played well.
Sinner through vs De Minaur.
Medvedev through, will face Felix Auger-Aliassime next round.
Tsitsipas up next.

Nadal claws his way through after losing a 2 sets up lead. Complaining of his stomach and taking a change of clothes and Medical TimeOut at the end of the 4th set (imho to disrupt Shapovalov's momentum with a very long break). It worked.

I'd like Nadal to win if only to further infuriate Djok.

Long interesting match Medvedev vs Auger-Aliassime. Med turned it around. So we have or semi finals. Greek God Tsitsipas Vs Russian Roulette Medvedev. Time wasting Nadal vs Italien Stallion Berettini. Women's semi finals today. Up next on Eurosport. Ash Barty vs Madison Keys Daniel Collins vs Iga Swiatek. Eurosports between match programme The Cube is pretty good. Mats Wilander, Tim Henman and Alizé Lim on site in London, Babs in Aus. Guests and players just finished matches, are holographically present. Looks totally real for the viewers. Sat delay must be edited out, as it's as if there were there! Alizé is getting more confident presenting.

Barty wins pretty easily.
Collins wins pretty easily. Collins is more of a surprise. She's usually up and down during an important match. But today, none of it. Served well, executed. Swiatek didn't stand a chance.

Tomorrow morning we have Nadal vs Berettini in the first semi final. They've made the 'old' man play in the best of the day again. Last time he played he was gassed and lost 4kgs in weight.
Is it Tennis Australia's way of trying to ensure the GrandSlam count stays even, after Novak was deported?... They tried their best to get him in and on court! Starts 3.30am UK time.
Then at 8.30 the main event for me; Medvedev vs Tsistitastic🙂

Rafa wins 3 sets to 1!
It was raining, the roof was closed, air con conditions. Much cooler. This dropped Berretini's serve by 5 or 10 kph, have Rafa cooler conditions and he played a very clever tactical game to overcome his opponent.
Berretini really shows up with an aggressive game in the 3rd set but by then it's too late. Had he played like that from the start.. mission Impossible today.
The main event for me is coming up,
Med vs Tsitsi

All boils down to
Ash Barty vs Danielle Collins in the women's final tomorrow.
Rafael Nadal vs Daniil Medvedev in the men's final on Sunday.

Novak Djokovic: Doubts over timing of Covid testThe numbers appear to be wrong " There is always the possibility for a glitch," says Djordje Krivokapic, a specialist in data and digital security. " But if that were the case, there would be a simple explanation," he says. " I don't see why the state authorities wouldn't just say that." We've put all our findings in this report to the Institute of Public Health of Serbia, as well as the government's Office of Information Technology. We've tried on multiple occasions and through various channels, but have not yet had a response. We also contacted Mr Djokovic's team and invited them to explain the discrepancies, but haven't heard back from them.

Ash Barty wins! Comfortable 1st set, came back from 5-1 down in the second set. Won the tiebreaker 7-2 The nerves set in a bit, had a big wobble, but overcame it. First Australian to win the AO in 42 years. Trophy to be presented by Wendy Turnbull previous winner back in 1980! Danielle Collins has really done well though, after her endemetriosus diagnosis and operation last year. An illness I know well, as our youngest daughter suffers from it.

Evonne Goolagong (7 slam winner) presents the runners up trophy.
Danellie gave a very gracious, emotional speech.
Yvonne also presented the winners trophy! Slight change of plan. Very fitting.
