K-Mag is really doing a fine job.
I would be pleased to see the Ferraris beat Verstappen and Sainz up there getting points.
I feel that if Mercedes can crack the porpoising with their aero they might have a great car underneath but right now it must be a right bastard to drive. How can the drivers last the distance being shaken to bits?

An exciting race with some last minute place changes as both Red Bulls suffer failures. Very well deserved win by Leclerc and a well grabbed 2nd by Sainz making a one-two for Ferrari. Mercedes did their damage limitation for 3rd and 4th but have work to do before the next race.
Driver of the day for me was K-Mag coming in a superb 5th for Haas.

Interesting race. the perez failure was a wierd one though, red bull sat fuel pump, it didnt look like that to me, the back axle locked suggesting either a gearbox failure or a seized motor
The ferrari looked imperious, the rb just didnt look like it was quite there
Merc? Miles away, but close enough to capitalize on rb issues
Rb had a shocker plus gasly ground to a halt so honda need to have a good look at the lunched motors
K mag and zhou did very well, and bottas showed pace.
Altogether a pretty good opening race

Red Bull Powertrains poached some engine staff from other teams and took the engine designs from Honda and thought they could start right at the top. Methinks it takes a decade to thoroughly develop a powerful and reliable engine and transmission and they have unrealistic expectations.

I thought honda were building and maintaining the rb engines for this year without their branding?

Exciting race. Full safety car thrown when a virtual would have done ? - Contrived excitement?
Coulthard called it - it should be called 'Formula tyre management'. Why oh why can't they get a tyre the drivers can properly lean on and race with? Must be so frustrating!
Ferrari class of the field👍
LH podium!😂
HLH must be pissed😀
Magnusson not so useless now 🙂

RB got smacked wrists by FIA for ticketing too long, during the week - trying to resolve ‘the problem’ I suppose.

Hamilton out of Q1!
I haven't established why yet, but it certainly speaks to the lack of progress with the Mercedes.
Russell is in 7th, so all is not lost.
Schumacher seems to have been involved in a serious accident.

I'm seeing comments on Twatter that the circuit is "dangerous".

All Motorsport is dangerous.
The drivers usually vote to continue, but I do think we should not be taking F1 to Saudi Arabia any longer. I hate to legitimise their atrocious lack of human rights.
Apparently, Hamilton had to abort a decent lap and had no time to come in for fresh tyres before the end of the session. He improved his time a little, then Stroll took the final place from him.
Time for one of Hamilton's famous charges tomorrow.

His bouncing yesterday looked particularly grim. I think my brain would be soup from that pummelling.
If Mercedes can fix that and set a lower ride height, they have a decent chance at a result.
Otherwise, the season will be a disaster. Likewise for McLaren.

I'm seeing comments on Twatter that the circuit is " dangerous". Aside from the close proximity of rockets landing; the kerbs have become more of a problem for these 'sort of' ground effect cars. Sometimes it's not only the cars that need to be revised with a rule change! The launching is spectacular! I thought Ferrari had that locked down!

Re the race on sunday, only bit that was interesting was alonso and ocon pushing and shoving. Leclerc and verstappen vying for drs was abit silly, leclerc pretty much buggered off again once he got in the lead and verstappen didnt have an answer for the ferrari through the twisties. simply would not have won without drs. latifi stacking it again was par for the course. Take drs out of the equation and its just a procession, so unfortunately its still needed right now The merc was crap agin, no surprise there, not even a choice of wing for merc which is farcical, George just pottered round in 5th place on his own. Lewis did the sum total of not much, not really much he could do with the car in the state its in. Do everything right like george did and they will sit there in 5th and 6th. Do something wrong and it will sit there in 10th.
There was absolutely nothing to get excited about other than perez phenomenal q3 lap and ocon and alonso having a nice little duel. One person tried a decent move which was albon, stroll was being dozy and turned in, albon gets a grid drop....... Perhaps im just jaded these days after the complete shitshow of agression, vitriol, moves that were simply not on, penalties that then werent penalties the next race for the same things, and masi that was last season K mag was good again though

K-Mag is worth watching these days.
I have a feeling that the Merc has serious potential if it could be unlocked. Could it be as simple as reconfiguring the floor so as to bleed the air a little to maintain a lower ride height, rather than the oscillating suck-and-spill that it's doing?
Right now, its just Ferrari versus Red Bull. Where's McLaren? Another design failure.

The fact that even with the appalling amount of bouncing around it does, that it is perfectly capable of being best of the rest is encouraging. It looks awful on track but if they can stop it doing its churchill dog impression i think it could be in the same race as the rb and the ferrari. Its problems stem from the floor. it seems to have huge downforce potential but its stall point is like a switch Its as if the downforce it generates is too much and completely overwhelms the rear suspension at a lower speed than other cars and lets go immediately if the ride height drops a thou too far It doesnt have a working window right now because it goes nuts as soon as they try to get it there.
