Nobody really talks much about interconnects these days / years.
Or maybe they do and I lead too sheltered a life on t'internet.
I guess it's cyclical and some 'wonder cable' with revolutionary tech will come out that gets everybody sweaty again.

WireWorld and (as we all know) AudioQuest are my favourites, governed as much by my wallet as anything else. I think that both provide superb value for money, and can be found "used" on eBay. I've been lucky enough to pick up a couple of AudioQuest's older "Diamond" range for a song, and they are probably the only interconnects I can honestly say I'd never change.

I can only agree with Paul. In general, AQ and WW make good cables.

I replied to this thread as a member of TAS, but in my capacity as a forum admin, I thought it probably didn't belong here, so I've moved it to the correct part of the site: theaudiostandard.net/post/219590/threadI have now banned myself and will join The Art of Sound forum. (Perhaps I'd better move this post too)

Just to be clear, I'm not trying to initiate a discussion about the cables themselves, I was just musing about why it isn't the hot topic it used to be.
Chris is perhaps on the right track or maybe punters have realised they don't make as much difference as once thought and prefer to invest elsewhere in their systems?

Well nothing stays "hot" forever, Jules. Bigger fish to fry these days like what's the best colour jumper to wear for listening to my hi-fi? And "Will adding the burnt to a crisp veggie hot spicey bean burgers that I totally forgot about, to my grounding box, have any beneficial effect?" It's topics like these that are "happening" now, Jules.

Hoping we are all in agreement that cables make a difference to sound. Then have no need to argue with anyone.
After much thought and research, I bought my 'end game' interconnects two years ago. Bought a 1m pair of Audience AU24SX RCA (RRP $3000). Sent it back to Audience, got them to make 2 x 0.5m pairs, selling one pair.
Probably not able to do that again. And not needing to get anything better either.

I would tend to agree about not big changes with cables I remember thinking when I had the Jamo concerts 8, I thought perhaps better cables would tame the treble. Moving onto different speakers I learnt it was just the speakers causing a issue with the sound. Since then I gone with well made cables and decent connectors and not worried about cables

I still contend that digital and power cables make more difference than analogue interconnects or speaker cables, but they can all influence the sound. Mine are pretty much done now, I have a good cable running in each position.

I agree as well. I spent a while finding analogue interconnects that suited going from AudioQuest --> Siltech New York --> Townshend Isolda --> Townshend Fractal for analogue and cannot imagine putting more effort into that now as the changes were relatively small after Siltech and I got to a solution that seems to suit the system well.
Digital took longer and was split from the CD --> DAC choice and streamer / server --> DAC choice. For the CD this started when I moved from the Meridian 206B (with 'integrated' DAC) to a separate transport and DAC and I went through a few secondhand cables including ones from Chord and AudioQuest before settling on a Siltech Stockholm cable. This was then disrupted by the purchase of a Lector CD transport and DAC that had its own AES connector which proved to be a better choice than the Siltech one.
The next selection process occurred when I added streamers to the mix and bypassed their internal DACs which took me from Siltech Stockholm --> Teddy Pardo --> Townshend --> AQVox. AQVox have become my digital interconnect of choice (both coaxial and USB) as well as my preferred network cables.
Towards the latter part of that 'journey', like Martin, I also discovered that I was getting a more significant improvement from 'better' mains cables and conditioners than from interconnects (once they were at a certain 'level').

Yes power cables made a bigger difference in my system

It took me a very long time to come to the realisation that digital interconnects could influence SQ, but I got there in the end.

After being settled for years with my analog cable choices, I put together some balanced 16ga Deulund tinned copper with Cotton in oil sheathing and ran them in. Darned if I didn't find that they made significant improvements in my system. So, making some more versions of them to improve . I am thrilled since they cost about a 20x factor less than my previous favorites, and now I can use top quality cables on my less critical connections.

I seem to remember that this cable became a big hit in Japan first.
